Publisher's summary

Addie Downs and Valerie Adler will be best friends forever. That's what Addie believes after Valerie moves across the street when they're both nine years old. But in the wake of betrayal during their teenage years, Val is swept into the popular crowd, while mousy, sullen Addie becomes her school's scapegoat.

Flash-forward 15 years. Valerie Adler has found a measure of fame and fortune working as the weathergirl at the local TV station. Addie Downs lives alone in her parents' house in their small hometown of Pleasant Ridge, Illinois, caring for a troubled brother and trying to meet Prince Charming on the Internet. She's just returned from Bad Date #6 when she opens her door to find her long-gone best friend standing there, a terrified look on her face and blood on the sleeve of her coat.

"Something horrible has happened," Val tells Addie, "and you're the only one who can help."

just fair

This is about my 7th audio book. It's a bit strange how these two are friends. Ultimately they are two lost people that just spent time together when they were young. I don't get the reconciliation.

love the story

I loved the story, but was disappointed to find out it was just an abridged version. My fault for not reading closer. Jennifer Weiner, you have written another very engaging book!

so disappointing

i just read all of jennifer weiners books in a row and then to read this...what a let down. different style which was what kept me reading it thinking that it would pick up but it didnt. i wont give up on her as a writer but she should go back to her old style. just felt that there were lots of gaps...

A nice listen

I'd probably give this 3.5 stars if I could. The beginning was a bit slow, but the story started to pick up. Overall, its a nice, fun, feel good story.

enjoyable

Typical chic lit, I like it, but did not love it. Worth buying and listening too.

Great fun

An enjoyable romp. Would have given it more stars were it not from the abridgement.

I hope it wasnt as good because its abridged

It seemed like alot of information was missing to me. I was creeped out by Jordan immensely and the plot was very I Love Lucy meets Car 54 Where Are You? It was definitely not as good as her previous books. I do not want to spoil the book for anyone but it was just so utterly predictable.
