Publisher's summary

In search of a new life out West, Brazos' fortune finds his family endangered by the very quest he hoped would save them. With these simple words, Brazos Fortune sets out on his journey in the first of Stephen Bly's new Fortunes of the Black Hills series.

When locals threaten the lives and property of his family. Brazos abandons his Texas homestead for a new ranch in the West he has seen in a dream. It's a war against corrupt lawmen, wild outlaws, and bitter winter weather as Brazos wrestles with his newfound hunger for gold and the burning desire to be reunited with his family. He must test himself against the untamed frontier, confront the greedy miners who try his Christian convictions, and find the new home God showed him Beneath a Dakota Cross.

Great listen.

Would you listen to Beneath A Dakota Cross again? Why?

Yes

What was one of the most memorable moments of Beneath A Dakota Cross?

Brazos finding his daughter.

What about Jerry Sciarrio’s performance did you like?

Jerry Sciarrio is one of the best readers I have heard. Very good.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

??

Any additional comments?

Stephen Bly is a very good writer. This book does not have as much action as some of his other books but it is still good.

Family Friendly Western . . . Great Listen

With their Texas ranch stolen from them after the civil war, Brazos takes his daughter, Dacee to live with her aunt . . . he leaves to find them a new home . . he has seen it in a dream, and felt God calling him to go . . . his wife has died, and older sons have already left home . . . the story is filled with all the normal western themes, gun fights, saloons, and woman of ill repute, but it is clear, what is right, and what is wrong . . . and who are the bad guys and who are the good ones . . . Dacee strikes out on her own to find her daddy, and two very savvy widows (who went to school with Brazos) meet up with her and help her . . . which makes for an interesting trio . . . Beneath a Dakota Cross is like the old time westerns on tv in the '60s, Gunsmoke, and the such where you never had to worry about the youngsters getting an eye or ear full . . . I will be getting the next in the series . . .
