The Carmichaels and the Grahams have gathered on Nantucket for a wedding. Plans are being made according to the wishes of the bride's late mother, who left behind The Notebook: specific instructions for every detail of her youngest daughter's future nuptials. Everything should be falling into place for the beautiful event - but in reality, things are far from perfect.
While the couple-to-be are quite happy, their loved ones find their own lives crumbling. In the days leading up to the wedding, love will be questioned, scandals will arise, and hearts will be broken and healed. Elin Hilderbrand takes readers on a touching journey in Beautiful Day - into the heart of marriage, what it means to be faithful, and how we choose to honor our commitments.

The narrator was the best part of the book, so yes, I would listen to Therese Plummer again.
Unfortunately, I could not see this being made into a movie or tv series. Actually, I'm not quite sure how it made it into a book.
Meh, is the best word I can think of to describe this book. Generally, I love Elin Hilderbrand, but this one just didn't quite do it for me.
It started out strong with a notebook that the deceased mother had written to her youngest daughter for when she would be married since she knew she wouldn't be around to see it, but after awhile it became annoying how the mother pretty much dictated this poor girl's entire wedding and the drama that unfolds is a bit entertaining, but nothing to call home about.
There are so many characters that I found it a bit difficult to keep up with everyone and all their family & extended family.
Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.
can't seem to like any of the characters.
all of them and start over
this author is usually good. disappointed with this one
I enjoyed this book - it was light and refreshing and the story line was entertaining. I liked that there were a few unexpected surprises in the story line. There was also a wide array of very colorful characters. I actually found some of less central characters to be particularly intriguing. However, the main character, Margo, was hard to like at times. I also found the story line about the bride and her fiance to be a bit boring and I thought the mother's notebook was a bit much - she was very overbearing! I also think the narrator's southern accent (which applied to just a few of the characters) was pretty terrible - it was distracting. But all in all, it was a good book - primarily because of the less central plot lines. The best part was the diversity of the characters - that was great! I truly appreciate it when there are diverse characters (in this case, a black gay male who was one of the minor characters) - diversity is often something that is overlooked in "beach reads."
I have listened to almost all of Elin Hilderbrand's books now, and for so many reasons, Beautiful Day is my new favorite! I usually limit my audio books to work, but this one I couldn't stop listening to...at work, on my walks, even at home. And, I will probably listen to it again someday... I really didn't want it to end.
Favorite author of all time: Jane Austen Also: Jojo Moyes, Favorite romance novel: The Wolf and the Dove. Still luv that Wulfgar!
grief, wedding, soap-opera
Margo, the eldest daughter
Margo's unexpected meet ups with Griff, you knew they were going to be attracted to each other eventually. You also feel that this sort of thing happens in real life.I love all the narratives regarding the scenery of Nantucket. I would like to visit Nantucket someday.
I felt the character of the mother of the groom, Anne, a state senator, was whiney, mean spirited, and childish. Possibly mentally unbalanced. Made it hard to believe she could function at all as a state senator for 18 years....I was surprised her husband didnt leave her, but he didnt impress me either.
I could connect with grieving family and felt their loss while they were planning this special wedding
An audio for me always brings the book to life! A movie in my head where I add the scene!
I think each of Elin Hilderbrand's books are SUPERB and while I can't compare another book any of Elin's excellent! If you like Beach reads Nancy Thayer comes next for me.
Therese Plummer is always a great narrator getting the voice of each character flowing and making them ultimately real.
A great relationship movie true to life, a must see!
I had a Harder time getting into this audio but once they reach Nantucket I was hooked and didn't want to put it down!! I very much enjoyed and feel the story line has many of today's relationship problems in true form!
I forgot how much I like Elin Hilderbrand... this book was so great!! The narrator was perfect for this story. Loved the characters! Going to download another Hilderbrand novel now!!
No-nothing really happens. The love interest development was extremely lacking
Yes. Overall the descriptions were interesting. More character development and action could have fixed it
Interesting, high-pitched, sometimes obnoxious
No. Anticlimactic and underdeveloped
The narrators interpretation of male voices drove me absolutely crazy and took from the story.
