Publisher's summary

The Carmichaels and the Grahams have gathered on Nantucket for a wedding. Plans are being made according to the wishes of the bride's late mother, who left behind The Notebook: specific instructions for every detail of her youngest daughter's future nuptials. Everything should be falling into place for the beautiful event - but in reality, things are far from perfect.

While the couple-to-be are quite happy, their loved ones find their own lives crumbling. In the days leading up to the wedding, love will be questioned, scandals will arise, and hearts will be broken and healed. Elin Hilderbrand takes readers on a touching journey in Beautiful Day - into the heart of marriage, what it means to be faithful, and how we choose to honor our commitments.

My new favorite!

I have listened to almost all of Elin Hilderbrand's books now, and for so many reasons, Beautiful Day is my new favorite! I usually limit my audio books to work, but this one I couldn't stop listening to...at work, on my walks, even at home. And, I will probably listen to it again someday... I really didn't want it to end.

Entertaining, great commute book.

Except that the narrator does not pronounce Sankaty correctly :) A few other words were mispronounced as well.

Great book to take your mind off of the world’s problems

I really enjoyed this book. I like the story twists.
The reason I gave performance a 4 was thAt all the men sounded very similar. Other than that it was enjoyable! I would recommend this book.

Good Story

I was very frustrated with Nantucket locations being mispronounced throughout the whole story! San-katie? Mah-deah-ket?

Beautiful book

Jenna Carmichael and Stuart Graham are getting married this weekend in a wedding planned and orchestrated by Jenna's mother, Beth, who's been dead for seven years. When Beth was dying of cancer and realized she would not live to see her youngest daughter fall in love and get married, she wrote a Notebook (with a capital N), to help Jenna plan het wedding in Beth's absence.
Marriage is the central theme in this absorbing, well written novel. It seems like every marriage is on the brink of collapse from the groom's married, divorced, and remarried parents, to one of the newlywed bridesmaids, to father-of-the-bride Doug, currently in a loveless marriage to maid of honor, divorced Margot, who we met in the short story prequel THE SURFING LESSON whose ex is engaged to his Pilates instructor.
BEAUTIFUL DAY is told in multiple POVs, primarily Doug's and Margot's voices, with excerpts from The Notebook as well as outtakes from the wedding video, which give us a window into the personalities of minor and major characters. The only criticism I have, and this is minor, is that I appreciate when sections with different POVs have more distinct voiced.
The characters are rich, multidimensional. Family relationships and sibling rivalries are realistic in their complexity. I love Elin Hilderbrand's books, set on Nantucket and usually released just in time for summer. Each year her writing becomes richer, her characters have more depth, and her stories more compelling. I can't wait until next year!

The title says it: Beautiful!

An amazingly creative and novel approach to a wedding /love story. Like a wedding, it makes you laugh, cry, and even cringe. A joy of a listen. Don’t miss it!

A Must Listen! Great storyline

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I love how the author captures everyone in each character life. It puts you into the story and makes you understand everything.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Margo and Anne. Margo for being a strong independent women and single parent, I loved how the author created her character and made you understand her life, feelings and emotions.

Anne - In her generation, it makes you understand why you will give your husband a 2nd chance, if though I won't have accepted my husband back. The strong feelings made me feel real inside of me - the emotions were so strong in the book.

We can't forget Douglas - I love this man!! He's every women's dream husband.

Which character – as performed by Therese Plummer – was your favorite?

Therese did an excellent job in each character.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes, I felt the emotions in Anne's feelings against her husband Jim and his ex-wife.

Any additional comments?

I hope they will make a another book - I would like to know what happens to Douglas and Margo and the rest of the siblings especially Nick.

A movie would be great!
