“Like his other books, Battleground is hard to put down - and once you’ve turned the last page you can’t help but look forward to the next installment.” (The Orlando Sentinel)
This book continues the excellent merging of the fabulous writing of WEB Griffin and the outstanding narration of Dick Hill. Whenever I listen to The Corps series, I always pull up the maps of the region whre the fighting is described and follow along with the narration. This combination brings the story alive.
Dick renders the characters in the story believable and adds the appropriate emotion and voice inflection that makes listening to the story fun.A good narrator makes a good book fun. A great narrator makes a great book memorable and brings the listener back again and again.
Well done story. I really like the continuation of the lives of the characters introduced the earlier books. There was some copying of previous sections from earlier books, but I think this was needed because of the continuation of the story, especially if it has been a wild since the previous books read. Overall, an excellent book.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in WWII. I have read/listened to many of W E B Griffin's military books and have loved them all. This one is right up there in his style of building a story around a number of different characters in different phases of the War and keeping the listener interested in all of them. Looking forward to downloading more from this series.
All of his WWII, Korean and after books are quite interesting and enjoyable to listen to
Capt Pickerin is a favorite in many of these books. Killer McCoy didn't have a big role in this book but he is a favorite of mine.
Not a laughing or crying type book but when some of the regular characters are lost in the war, I feel like I've lost a friend.
Read all of this series, you will enjoy it.
He does a great job
there was so many- I lost a cousin in GUADALCANAL. He recieved the Navy Cross and also lost his life. Griffin tells the story so well of all our brave men in World War II. A very good read.
