Publisher's summary

Even four years after the sudden death of his wife, best selling novelist Mike Noonan can't stop grieving, nor can he return to his writing. Now his nights are plagued by vivid nightmares of the house by the lake. Despite these dreams, or perhaps because of them, he decides to return to Sara Laughs, the Noonans' isolated summer home. In his beloved Yankee town, he finds himself falling in love with a widowed young mother, who struggles to keep custody of her 3-year-old daughter. He is also drawn into the mystery of Sara Laughs, now the site of ghostly visitations, ever-escalating nightmares, and the sudden recovery of his writing ability. What are the forces that have been unleashed here - and what do they want of Mike Noonan?

Stunning production of a piercing story

Oh man I can’t tell you how much I LOVED story! It was moving and had just enough mystery to keep you on the edge of your seat. I started listening while driving and with in 20 minutes I had transferred from my car to my earbuds and took it with me every where I went for a week. I loved this story in my car, in my bed, in my kitchen while doing dishes, and while grocery shopping at the market. It was one I just could put down! I’m a little sad it’s over, but I’m used to my Post book mourning period after one of Mr. Kings books. It’s what makes me pick them up again in a few months and visit the story again.

Slow, but worth the listen

The first several hours was truthfully quite boring. it was hard to stay with it, I only did because of the author. the last quarter of the book was pretty good, but it took way too long to get there

Not Your Parent's Ghost Story

I started listening to audio books recently. I enjoy books as much as I enjoy my crocheting. I can't do both though. At least not at the same time. I enjoy the supernatural genre the best. Stephen King has always been one of my favorite authors so naturally I gravitate towards his work. Even though I get a tad frustrated at some of his endings, ha ha ha, I always enjoy his stories. "Bag of Bones" totally surprised me. From beginning to end, it had me. Because how this story is written it's hard to realize where the regular everyday lives of the characters blur into that supernatural realm. I also had no idea where the story was headed. Usually and due to how many stories and movies I've seen nothing surprises me or even scares me really. Not this story. I couldn't guess which direction this story was headed. I'm impressed with how seamless the realities in this story was put together. Mr. King is one helluva a story teller and narrator. This book is a treat. Treat yourself.

Slow to Start is an Understatement

More than 9 hours in and not much has happened. I stopped listening to the book last year in October, and now in April, I'm not sure when I'll pick this back up. It seemed like a good story, loved King's narration. Even though nothing really happened in 9 hours, it was nice. Not sure when I'll get the desire to finish this, so I'd have to say, "Slow to start" is an understatement.
