This was a most pleasant listen. I found myself smiling and even giggling out loud. You couldn't find two characters to like any more. The plot was a little outlandish but thats what generated the humor. The reader was a little stilted at first but all in all she did the voices pretty well. I was sorry to hear it end. I'm going to look for other books by Ms Evanovich.
this book was not as funny as I expected. It had it's moments but it's not a stephanie bond quality. Not a bad read if you aren't into the bond series. I guess I keep comparing everything to that and it seems as though the characters are repeated in this book just slightly different but not enough to make it better. Could only give it a 3 because it's not bad, not awsome, but not bad either.
performance can only work with what's written they were doomed
so sorry I downloaded this
run, don't walk away from this one
CUTE LOVE STORY
THIS IS TYPICAL JANET EVANOVICH
THE OLD LADY - SO MUCH LIKE GRANDMA IN THE STEPHANIE PLUM BOOKS
IT WAS A CUTE STORY BUT COULD HAVE ENDED ANYTIME IN THE LAST 1/3 OF THE BOOK. IT SEEMED TO HAVE ENDING AFTER ENDING.
Possible spoiler - this is a screwball comedy romance with all that implies.
In most romances the characters seem made for each other. Here the two leads have very different outlooks and goals in life which makes for a more interesting story and creates problems until the end. This is light weight funny fluff and you know it is going to be wrapped up at the end but there is some funny romance and banter along the way.
Katherine Finn is a recently divorced, dedicated, serious and very time-stressed musician, and David Dodd is a handsome, fit and very easy-going hunk who loves cartoons and toys. He has won the lottery and doesn't have to work but draws cartoons. They live in adjoining townhouses. Something falls out of the sky and smashes through the roof and the third floor to land in Kate's bed on the second floor. Elsie Hawkins shows up from moving out of a nursing home to rent a room.
The chapter about dinner with the parents needs to be on the big screen.
C.J. Critt reads this book and it took me a couple chapters to get into her style. It improves.
As a bonus for Stephanie Plum fans this is the first of four romances to feature Elsie Hawkins, the prototype for Grandma Mazur. The next is Smitten.
funny cute good laugh
7 out of 10 stars
elsie the elderly lady
fun to read good laugh
I didn't read the printed version.
The kittens - so perfect to help Kate feel better.
I listen to all Janet Evanovich! The performances by C.J.Critt was so great! Kind of like when you were a kid during story time !!!!
Ella, the gun slinger, so young at heart!
Listening to Hot Stuff now - just as enjoyable !!!
I just cant't seem to get enough of Janet Evanovich. Her stories just get better and better. Back to the Bedroom was top of the line. Keep them coming Janet or I will go through withdrawal :-)
So there is sex and stuff but not much else! Perhaps its my fault as I am just not a romance reader but I tried! It is funny in parts and sexy in others but the story line seemed to be lacking flow and I had the picture in my head of the main female character that was more like a middle aged overweight female, perhaps it was the narrators voice as she sounded like she was one smoke away from a respirator! I never felt like I trusted the main male character in this book and I thought the whole thing was very flimsy. Not a believeable story and the characters were made out of paper. Dissapointed.
