Publisher's Summary

This inaugural title in Tales from Grace Chapel Inn sets the tone for a series that embraces family and friends, good neighbors and good will, and an enduring faith in God. The Howard sisters live their faith by example and bring a sense of community to Acorn Hill as they go about their days.

In Back Home Again, sleepy little Acorn Hill is in for a big surprise when the three sisters reunite after the death of their father, a beloved minister. Each has inherited a share of his worn-down Victorian house, and they decide to turn their family home into a bed-and-breakfast. But the women are as different as sisters can be, and they encounter many obstacles along the way. By learning to work together, accepting a little help from their friends, and trusting in God, the three sisters are finally able to see Grace Chapel Inn open its doors.

Written in a lively and engaging style, this book will draw readers in and have them waiting for the next title in the series.

Retired CFO, Army wife, Mom of five, Grandma of six, two sons who served in combat, love to read books that reflect my values and faith, love mysteries, historical, military stories, and books that don't waste my time . . . if it doesn't have an ending that was worth the wait, I'm not a happy camper.

    "Easy, Light Listen . . . Three Sisters and B & B"

Three sisters come together following the death of their pastor father, at first not agreeing on much, but ultimately accepting their differences and turning their childhood home into a bed and breakfast together . . . a light, easy tale of the little town of Acorn Hill, some busy body parishioners and a few bumps in the road to opening the inn . . . not overly religious or preachy . . . just a fun, uncomplicated story . . .

    "Sweet but boring"
Would you try another book from Melody Carlson and/or the narrator?

Not from Melody Carlson. The book had a flimsy plotline. The narrator was fine.

If you’ve listened to books by Melody Carlson before, how does this one compare?

    This is my first.

What about the narrator’s performance did you like?

    Nothing in particular

Was Back Home Again worth the listening time?

    No.

    "Not worth the time...."
Would you try another book from Melody Carlson and/or the narrator?

I don't find the story line compelling--I find it slow-moving, predictable, and I'm learning absolutely nothing. It seems there would be room to learn about renovating an old house, relationships, cooking--but I'm quitting. There is nothing.

What was most disappointing about Melody Carlson’s story?

There is nothing compelling about any of the characters, the plot, the setting.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

There seemed to be no heart in the reading.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The idea was a good one--the reason I have the book.

    Any additional comments?

I'd love to return this book.....
