Left alone in Baltimore after his unpredictable lover bails, Special Agent Zane Garrett takes his frustration out on everything in his path - until he is ordered to Chicago to back up an undercover operative. When he gets there, though, he finds himself face to face with his wayward partner, Special Agent Ty Grady. They have to deal with the uncertainty lingering between them while they work to retrieve their intended mark, a retired hit man and CIA wet-works operative named Julian Cross.
Ty, once a Marine and now an FBI hotshot, has a penchant for being unpredictable, a trait Zane can vouch for. Zane is a man who once lived for his job but has come to realize his heartbreaking past doesn’t have to overshadow his future. They're partners, friends, lovers, and the go-to team for unusual cases. With Cross and his innocuous boyfriend, Cameron Jacobs, in tow, Ty and Zane must navigate the obstacles of a cross-country trek, including TSA pat-downs, blizzards, their uncooperative prisoners, CIA kill teams, a desperate lack of sleep and caffeine, and each other.
Ty and Zane are determined to get Julian Cross to DC in one piece, but it’s starting to look like it might be the last thing they do.

Listening to this book is like visiting old friends. I read and re read this book many times and the audio version did not disappoint. If you are not a fan of the series and have not read all the other books, I'm not sure you will get as much out of this book. The real appeal in this alpha/alpha relationship is how they got to this point. The secondary story in this book is almost incidental. The other couple in this story makes more sense if you read Warrior's Cross, (their story), But you can still enjoy the book if you haven't read Warrior's Cross. Sean Crisden does a great job with everyone's voices EXCEPT Cam's. He made him sound like a sniveling weasel and he really is a great character (I've read Warrior's Cross). Regardless, this is a must for any Ty and Zane fans while we patiently wait for the release of Stars & Stripes and hopefully Touche & Geux on audio.
The growing relationship between the MCs
Hard to say, I would generally go with Zane, but I think Ty may have this book
Meeting at the Airport
Absolutely - been waiting for it to come to Audible!
Please add books 6 & 7! Thanks
The characters have have become like family members whose dysfunctional relationship in a world of machismo has morphed slowly into being able to accept themselves for who they are. I have to admit that as a gay man I wish there was a little more erotic diversity, but this is a romance novel. I would love to chat with the author about a woman's interest in gay male fiction and perspective. I definitely like the idea of a committed relationship, but would also be more "into it" if there as more description of physical detail. I always hated porn until I found the rare explicit sex video imbedded in a story. Apparently I am in the minority here.
To reconnect I returned to listen to the first book in the series. Now I want to listen to them all again. The narrator has changed. They are both fine, but I think Sean Crisden really adds more character separation and an extra sultry touch.
I really enjoy the world of books! Narration just add layers to that world... don't u think? :)
Ty and Zane are back! YESSSS!!! I was so scared they wouldn’t do any more of these books. These are the best m/m romance book on audible hands down. If you are into m/m romance and you don't have Ty and Zane into your collection... SHAME ON YOU!
When Ty left Zane at the end of Divide and Conquer I was like WHAT!!! OMG!!! and other explanatives. I love not like love the way this book opens up. I love how Ty left, why Ty left and how Ty and Zane came back together... And guess what... we get to see Julian Cross! O Yeah! If you haven't read Julian Cross's book... you might want to read it before this book, to know a bit of background about Julian Cross and his lover, but you don't have to listen to this. This was just awesome. The smex was ultra romantic for Ty and Zane and I mean ultra romantic... OMG! I think I am still blushing... Soooo good!!! 5 stars all the way up!!!
Crisden is the best m/m narrator I think. I am so glad he took over this series...Please Please Please let them continue this... I will scoop them all up the day they come out!!!
I like to live vicariously through fictional characters. I enjoy reading and/or listening to mostly paranormal and fantasy.
4.5 stars. This series has really started to grow on me. I’m loving the narration and listening to Ty and Zan through Sean Crisden’s voice. I’m very disappointed that, at time time, book six and seven have not been done in audio yet. I thought it was very well done. I love this series enough to go back to just reading, and hope that the audio will come soon.
I really like Julian and Cameron. Julian is a former CIA agent that Ty and Zane are being asked to bring in to the FBI for questioning. Cameron is his lover. They are both great characters and really help to make the story one of my favorites of this series. All four of them, Julian, Cameron, Ty and Zane all work off each other in this book to keep things very interesting.
There is a great twist at the end that is not expected. We don’t know who the real villain is until the author wants you to know. It really kept the suspense going.
Favorite quote: “Glock, paper, scissors. I win.” ~ Ty.
I love that Julian has two cats named Smith and Wesson. They are very large cats and hate most people, but they took a liking to Ty. Even Cameron can't pick them up, but they snuggle up to Ty like they're kittens.
If you enjoy cop style suspense novels with some romance to them, then you should give this series a try. Even if you’ve never read a m/m romance before, you should still give this a try. I hope that isn’t what is keeping you from reading this series. It is a great suspense cop style story that just happens to have two male leads that are lovers.
Best book in the series so far, though Stick & Stones was a closed second for me. I wish the next two books were available in audio. Not sure why they stopped the audios are wonderful, or at least books three, four and five were. I didn't like the narrator for books one and two.
Improbable. Fun. Sexy.
All the arguments between Ty and Julian. They had better chemistry than Julian and Cameron did in their own book (Warrior's Cross). The part where Ty and Zane met at the airport was memorable, too. As was their outing in the city where they got to act like a normal couple.
Some of the character voices really grated on my nerves, or should that be ears? Cameron's voice in particular. Holy crap he sounded like he was being strangled or kicked in the balls. While I appreciate the attempt at an Irish accent for Julian, I've been around real Irishmen and they don't sound like that. It's a shame since he did okay with the narrative parts.
I'd read the ebook before, so no. I'd read the book in one sitting. This audiobook was something I just liked listening to while relaxing.
I wish the rest of the series was available in audiobook format...
Action, Loyalty, and Love
Ty & Zane.Their characters are so attractive personality wise. They are funny, witty, sarcastic, and all around good guys.
I would have to say he did a great job on all the characters, I can't pick just one.
Smith & Wesson, I just love how they are so fond of Ty and torment poor Zane. Seriously though, Ty & Zane have both been my favorite. They are two lost pieces that found each other and fit. They may have their ups & downs but that's what makes the story great!
It was a story I fell in love with after reading Cut & Run. The characters and personalities are perfect. It all fits and this book is just part of that. Great story line and fantastic read.
This series is a standout, not only in the m/m genre but in romance as a whole. My only problem with the series is that the last few aren't available on Audible. No reader of romance can go wrong in buying every book in this series. Compelling relationship, intriguing mystery, excellent sex. Not sure what more I can ask for here.
Yes, kind of gives one a different perspective. Characters come to life.
Love his voice characterizations. Would miss that with "just reading".
Sassy dialogue, humor, and a great reader are important to me.
No Abigail Roux, YES Sean. Sean great reading voice saved this story, well I have 6 hrs to go as I write these notes. Not sure what I expected, but this seemed like the men's characters were written from a woman point of view of what gay lovers should be like. I felt like the author was trying to convey the 2 FBI guys feminine or gentle side. This was not for me.
Unless this starts getting better, I don't know if I want to listen to 6 more hrs. The synopsis lead me to believe this was a mystery not delving into the femine side of two partners who are coping with a long term relationship issues. I tried a m/m story written by a man, but it was too strong for me. I thought a woman may have a clever hand at writing this genre, but this author's take is not for me.
Ty's interaction with Julian's Maine Coon cats.
In the few chapters I have listened, there is potential for good humor, but the emotional portion is just too sappy for me. It just seemed like dialogue a woman would say to another woman.
I chose this book as the other reviewers said it was the best. Huh!
Having finished book 5 I am left wanting more. I started with book 1 thinking it probably wasn't the sort of thing I would enjoy & to my amazement I haven't been able to leave them alone. I understand there are 2 more in the series & I can't seem to get them, I am hoping that Audible will be able to get them soon or I will suffer withdrawal. Love these guys I need to know where they go from here PLEASE.
