Publisher's Summary

Left alone in Baltimore after his unpredictable lover bails, Special Agent Zane Garrett takes his frustration out on everything in his path - until he is ordered to Chicago to back up an undercover operative. When he gets there, though, he finds himself face to face with his wayward partner, Special Agent Ty Grady. They have to deal with the uncertainty lingering between them while they work to retrieve their intended mark, a retired hit man and CIA wet-works operative named Julian Cross.

Ty, once a Marine and now an FBI hotshot, has a penchant for being unpredictable, a trait Zane can vouch for. Zane is a man who once lived for his job but has come to realize his heartbreaking past doesn’t have to overshadow his future. They're partners, friends, lovers, and the go-to team for unusual cases. With Cross and his innocuous boyfriend, Cameron Jacobs, in tow, Ty and Zane must navigate the obstacles of a cross-country trek, including TSA pat-downs, blizzards, their uncooperative prisoners, CIA kill teams, a desperate lack of sleep and caffeine, and each other.

Ty and Zane are determined to get Julian Cross to DC in one piece, but it’s starting to look like it might be the last thing they do.

This is Cut & Run Series Book 5 - the sequel to Divide & Conquer

"Favorite book series of all time!!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes!!!! The characters in this series have so much chemistry and dimension. I literally check the new realeases evey day for the next books in the series, Stars & Stripes and Touch & Geaux. Please Audible, get these books!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Ty of course. His character is so deep in so many ways. He is funny, strong, obstinate, heroic yet an asshole. He is so tender in regards to his love for
Zane. He is my favorite character of all time. Deuce is pretty amazing as well.

What does Sean Crisden bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Sean was great in this series. Although eveyone raves over Sean, and he is good, he is not my favorite narrator. For this series though, he did a great job.

Who was the most memorable character of Armed & Dangerous: Cut & Run Series, Book 5 and why?

I really liked Julian and suprising to myself, I liked Nick. The small part he had in this book really changed my mind about him.

    Any additional comments?

    More Ty and Zane please!!!!!!!!

    "Note: Written by a Woman"
Would you try another book from Abigail Roux and/or Sean Crisden?

No Abigail Roux, YES Sean. Sean great reading voice saved this story, well I have 6 hrs to go as I write these notes. Not sure what I expected, but this seemed like the men's characters were written from a woman point of view of what gay lovers should be like. I felt like the author was trying to convey the 2 FBI guys feminine or gentle side. This was not for me.

Has Armed & Dangerous: Cut & Run Series, Book 5 turned you off from other books in this genre?

Unless this starts getting better, I don't know if I want to listen to 6 more hrs. The synopsis lead me to believe this was a mystery not delving into the femine side of two partners who are coping with a long term relationship issues. I tried a m/m story written by a man, but it was too strong for me. I thought a woman may have a clever hand at writing this genre, but this author's take is not for me.

    Which scene was your favorite?

Ty's interaction with Julian's Maine Coon cats.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

In the few chapters I have listened, there is potential for good humor, but the emotional portion is just too sappy for me. It just seemed like dialogue a woman would say to another woman.

    Any additional comments?

I chose this book as the other reviewers said it was the best. Huh!

    "God this series!"
Where does Armed & Dangerous rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

pretty high up there. This whole series is one of my all time favorites. I have listened to them over and over again they are that good

Who was your favorite character and why?

Ty, for sure. And Zane because Ty wouldn't be Ty with out Zane. although Cameron was pretty adorable too. And Julian.

    Which scene was your favorite?

When Zane accidentally tells Ty he loves him in front of Julian and Cameron. Julians reaction was...priceless. And the sex after was amazing ;)

    Any additional comments?

I love this series because not only is it engaging and hot, but you really fall in love with the characters. You cant help but root for Ty and Zane to get their happy ending. Will they, I dunno, but I sure as hell hope so!

I am eagerly awaiting they next book! The wait for this one just about killed me, what with the last cliffhanger.

"It feels like the final book in the series"

I think if I'd not listened to all the books in the series, I would have been disappointed. This book is different with just Roux at the helm, but the series it better for it. This book is a lot less violent, less adventurous, but more importantly, it FINALLY gets to grips with Zane and Ty's relationship. It feels like the final book in the series - in this book, both Zane and Ty deal with the intense love between them. It resolves, anything after this book will feel frivolous.

"The one that can be skipped..."

I personally feel like anyone who gives Armed & Dangerous more than a 3 star rating does so on merit of all the other books in the series and the work of the two authors in the books prior. No argument whatsoever that this series in general is lovely. I wish to judge Armed & Dangerous on its own as its own book, and as such, well I have to say that this is one book in the series that was like nails on a chalkboard to me. It took me almost two weeks to finish listening to it when usually I stay up all night and lose sleep.

One of the most disgusting thing to me is that Cameron and Julian from 'Warrior's Cross' was introduced into the Cut & Run series. This irritates me to no end and makes me think that the authors sank to a new low just by doing something so distasteful. Still, fair is fair and Julian's character, and even Preston, upheld their part of the deal by being two very brilliant characters, even as they had to compete for the limelight with Ty and Zane. I will refrain from giving too much of my opinion on Cameron. I can't stand the character in Warrior's Cross, and I despised him even more in Armed & Dangerous, but that's enough said. It was interesting to see Ty and Julian battle against each other. Two fierce fighters in their own rights, ruthless and smart, were the most engaging parts of this book to listen to. Ty and Zane were also lovely as usual in their muted interactions as they tried to remain professional. I'm not sure I came out of listening to this book with much confidence in Ty's ability to love Zane entirely though, especially as Nick makes an appearance. Still, for what was involved, and with the twists and sad turns, I didn't entirely hate the plot. Little things, however, I found could have been tweaked to strengthen the story. But Roux, having shed Urban, have decided to take the two characters down a winding path in this and the upcoming books, and we the readers/listeners must go with where she takes us or jump ship.

Sean Crisden as the narrator did his usual style whilst reading this book. Not bad, and not his very best, but good enough to propel me forward at the points when listening to certain parts made me want to rip my hair out. Nick's voice is still annoying. Julian's voice was so 'wrong' that I had to bite my tongue to stop from swearing the first few times the appalling Irish accent made an appearance. In spite of this though, Crisden kept the pace and worked with what he had. To this, fair due must be given.

Overall, I can't imagine I will ever be re-listening to Armed & Dangerous again. It's an okay stepping stone within the series but if it had never been written, we would be missing absolutely nothing important within the storyline. As it is, having listened to it, I'm relieved I got through it. Some people might truly have loved it. I'm not so convinced. But as I said, the series in general is very good and we can't all like all the books. Bring on Stars & Stripes to audiobook! Hopefully that one does not disappoint quite so much.
