Publisher's summary

LAPD Detective Harry Bosch tackles three tough cases that span a legendary career in this never-before-collected trio of stories.

In "Christmas Even", the case of a burglar killed in mid-heist leads Bosch to retrace a link to his past. In "Father's Day", Bosch investigates a young boy's seemingly accidental death and confronts his own fears as a father. In "Angle of Investigation", Bosch delves into one of the first homicides he ever worked back as a uniformed rookie patrolman, a case that was left unsolved for decades.

Together, these gripping stories span Bosch's controversial career at the LAPD, and show the evolution of the haunted, legendary investigator he would become. Utterly unputdownable, they are proof that "Connelly never stops doling out the suspense.... Once it grabs you in those first few pages, it won't let go of you" (Boston Globe).

Impressed? Ace detective Harry Bosch is also on the case in exciting Michael Connelly crime-fiction novels.

great quick read

Connelly is one of those authors that sucks you in as soon as you start to read his books. Harry Bosch is one of my favorite characters and in these short stories I didn't want to put the book down.
Take it from someone who has read all his books more than once. this was a wonderful collection of stories. It is a perfect taste of Harry Bosch for someone who wants to make sure they will enjoy the series.

short and sweet

If you could sum up Angle of Investigation in three words, what would they be?

Short, sweet and entertaining. Even though these were not novels I still thought they were good. Having read the whole Harry Bosch novel series I rather enjoyed hearing more about Harry and his partners solving cases..

What did you like best about this story?

I think I liked how it was 3 different stories into 1 book, but they were written like 3 short cases that Harry worked on in between his big cases so they fit in between the novels that go with the series.

Which scene was your favorite?

I didn't really have a favorite scene but I just enjoyed the different cases. They picked up in between the different novels of the Harry Bosch series and I actually could connect them to the novels that they fall in between.

If you could take any character from Angle of Investigation out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Harry Bosch. I just really like the character, the knowledge and excitement that he has been through I could sit and listen to his stories all day long.. (if he was a real person )

For avid Harry Bosch fans only

What did you love best about Angle of Investigation?

I have read Harry Bosch books forever. This gave me a fix of hearing about my favorite character as a hold over to the next full length book. If you are reading this with the thought that it is short and will give you a quick look into the books then you will not be happy because it misses the complex interesting stories from the full length books.

Have you listened to any of Len Cariou’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I am a big fan of Len Cariou because quite frankly he is the reader that has done most of the Bosch series and his voice is what I am used to relating to so I will always like his performance the best but the reader that stars in the Amazon Prime series is also first rate.

Leaves me wanting more

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

These are short stories that resolve themselves quickly. They are a great for times when you just want a quick 'read' and don't want to leave yourself wondering what's next.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I like Michael Connelly's writing. He did a good job of wrapping up the story line in the short format. Len Cariou's performance embodies my vision of Harry Bosch. I don't think it could be better unless it was a full book, but being the short format, it is a little predictable.
