Lacey Terwilligers shock and humiliation over her husband’s philandering prompt her to add some bonus material to Mike's company newsletter: stunning Technicolor descriptions of the special brand of "administrative support" his receptionist gives him. The detailed mass email to Mike's family, friends, and clients blows up in her face, and before one can say "instant urban legend", Lacey has become the pariah of her small Kentucky town, a media punch line, and the defendant in Mike's defamation lawsuit.
Her seemingly perfect life up in flames, Lacey retreats to her family’s lakeside cabin, only to encounter an aggravating neighbour named Monroe. A hunky crime novelist with a low tolerance for drama, Monroe is not thrilled about a newly divorced woman moving in next door. But with time, beer, and a screen door to the nose, a cautious friendship develops into something infinitely more satisfying.
Lacey has to make a decision about her long-term living arrangements, though. Should she take a job writing caustic divorce newsletters for paying clients, or move on with her own life, pursuing more literary aspirations? Can she find happiness with a man who tells her what he thinks and not what she wants to hear? And will she ever be able to resist saying one…last…thing?

I do like kick butt chick vampire slayers
I have read and loved all of Molly's books. It took me a while to read this one as it it did not fall into the paranormal fantasy genre, but so pleased i did eventually and sooo pleased.
When I fould them on Audio books I could not believe they could be improved, but the have been by Amanda Ronconi. It is as if she is really living the story they way she puts a whole new dimension to the script. I will be checking out all her other narrations now
I really enjoyed this book, it was a great little story and had me laughing out loud on more than one occasion. Its not deep and meaningful, but its super light-entertainment and some of the insults (spineless, dickless etc.) will amuse me for weeks to come.
I wouldn't say I liked it, but if was a very enjoyable listen.
I liked the sexy neighbour cause he was sexy.
It was different to what I had heard her preform before but still great.
I liked the jokes and humour.. but was dissapointed there was no good revenge after the newsletter
Purchased audio version only
Heroine versus "other woman" at the beauty parlour for one.
Amanda Ronconi is a consummate professional. I'd listen to almost anything she read
Writer and reader are a sublime combination.
Molly Harper is one of my favourite authors right now, so this is near the top of my list.
Excellent, as always ... she's perfectly suited to Molly Harper's writing.
If you're a fan of Molly Harper you will love this new one. Has all the expected biting wit and laugh-out-loud humor, combined with with serious themes about second chances and starting over. I think I used to be married to Mike!! Perfectly voiced by Amanda Ronconi - this pair is the ideal combination. Ronconi's voice brings Harper's characters to life and when I actually read the books, I hear them in that voice now. This is not intended to be taken too seriously, but if you want a fun listen, you wont be wasting your time. Great fun!
Great narration. I like to list this first as it can make or break a story.
Loved this story. Easy listerning and very entertaining. Will be impatiently waiting for any new books in audio from this author.
I really enjoy it when readers with similar reading interests list their favourite authors and series. It really helps me find new authors too follow. Mine are Charlaine Harris, Jeaniene Frost, Jennifer Estep, Faith Hunter, Molly Harper, Ilona Andrews, Kresley Cole, Deborah Harkness, Nalini Singh and Sherrilyn Kenyon.
Molly Harper always makes me laugh and this book was no different. A story filled with laugh out loud situations, an unforgettably feisty heroine and her signature sarcastic dialogue the book begs to be read by every woman who has ever considered revenge on the male gender. I enjoyed both story and narration. For me the partnership of Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi is a sure thing!
I love Molly Harper who always makes me laugh. Truly she has a real sense of humor in her writing which is rare these days. Enough romance to make everyone happy but with quality writing rather than just the 'kissy bits'. My only complaint ...I think her husband deserved it & I hate the 'fall out' from friends & family.
"A perfect blend"
Lacey, but they are all done well with varied voices.
I listened to this book via the audio version because I’ve come to love Amanda Ronconi’s voice, and between her and molly Harper’s humour I am guaranteed a good read every time. This book was the perfect mixture of romance, conflict, sex, and humour that I usually expect from this author. I loved the characters, even the cheating Mike had a well-defined, three-dimensional persona, making it such a good, easy read. Lacey was the sort of protagonist you can love easily, with her self-deprecating manner and clumsy, bad decisions. Monroe was a nice character, maybe not as strong as he could be, but when the author delivers a hot, Wolverine-like man, who are we to bitch?
"Stand alone novel with a light touch"
A stand alone novel about Lacey and her family and the aftermath of finding out about her husband's affair. Overall, the book was narrated well, although there was little distinction between the men's voices in that they mostly sounded the same. That apart, I enjoyed the story and enjoyed Lacey's fight back after the shock of being cheated on. The story was well paced and built to a satisfactory ending. There was no huge surprises, but I wasn't looking for one, just a good tale. I'll be reading other books by Molly Harper in the future. Oh, and can I read the novel Lacey started writing please?!
"Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi score again!"
This is another great story from Molly Harper and delivered flawlessly by Amanda Ronconi, who is easily one of my favourite narrators. If you are looking for an easy and enjoyable read with well thought out characters, then this is a book for you. This was an entertaining read which had me laughing out loud on more than one occassion.
absolutly love this book. i can listen to it over abd over and still find something new to laugh about. Molly harper absolutly rocks.
"A great read, light humour and enjoyable."
The story line, the character and her whit.
her personality and resolve in over coming.
much like the others, I enjoyed her writing.
not fully, but then close to it.
A pleasant change, and a nice humour.
"Nice little story"
I found this a nice little story, not too challenging or thought-provoking, it was quite predictable but entertaining for all that. It's not the kind of book that makes you want to listen again or even think about it again once it's over but it was enjoyable enough and non-threatening. The American voice was pleasant to listen to and the writing was interesting without being gripping.
"Why didn't I think of that ......"
I shall look out for more Molly Harper novels in the future - Definately my sense of humour
Not sure this heading is the right one for this book but presuming it is then I would have to say that the 'information was presented in a way that was interesting and insightful' and very funny.
I laughed out loud in so many places. There were a few times that I really felt for Lacey but mostly I enjoyed her feisty style and determination (Yes, I know it's not real!!).
it was ok it filled a gap when i had no other books to read
