Publisher's summary

Lacey Terwilliger's shock and humiliation over her husband's philandering prompt her to add some bonus material to Mike's company newsletter: stunning Technicolor descriptions of the special brand of "administrative support" his receptionist gives him. The detailed mass e-mail to Mike's family, friends, and clients blows up in her face, and before one can say "instant urban legend", Lacey has become the pariah of her small Kentucky town, a media punch line, and the defendant in Mike's defamation lawsuit.

Her seemingly perfect life up in flames, Lacey retreats to her family's lakeside cabin, only to encounter an aggravating neighbor named Monroe. A hunky crime novelist with a low tolerance for drama, Monroe is not thrilled about a newly divorced woman moving in next door. But with time, beer, and a screen door to the nose, a cautious friendship develops into something infinitely more satisfying.

Lacey has to make a decision about her long-term living arrangements, though. Should she take a job writing caustic divorce newsletters for paying clients, or move on with her own life, pursuing more literary aspirations? Can she find happiness with a man who tells her what he thinks and not what she wants to hear? And will she ever be able to resist saying one... last... thing?

Fun, Entertaining & Witty

I wasn't sure what to expect when I choose this book. By the time I was half way though the first chapter I was delighted. This is a pleasurable story read by a wonderful narrator. We should all take a lesson from Lacey and not be afarid to take chances to be happy. Watching her hit rock bottom just to learn that she was never happy in the first place.

Predictable

The story although predictable was okay. The narrators voice was too nasally for me and I found myself drifting off many times during this story without so much of an inkling of a thought to rewind.

It Was Hilarious

The first time I have read Molly Harper (MH) and first time for Amanda Ronconi (AR) as the narrator. Extremely good book--narrator did a good job as well. I want to listen to more books by MH; however if the other reviewer is right, I don't think I am in to werewolfs. I laughed so many times while reading the book. I wish it had been longer.

horrible narrator

the story is actually pretty good. the narrator is horrendous and had a nagging, sarcastic tone the entire time. her voice and tone butchered the sex scenes and her character voices were like cartoon characters. She is not a good narrator.

A unique woman scorned tale.

I loved that Lacey didn't just take her husband's infidelity lying down. The story was well written and at times laugh out loud funny. I really liked and rooted for Lacey. Monroe was hunky but not your typical hero. I hope if anything similar happens to me I can write such a scathing, entertaining newsletter. The only part that didn't completely ring true to me was that Lacey was such a strong, smart woman. How did she ever get bamboozled into marrying Mike in the first place? And clearly her resentments of his treatment didn't begin with her discovering his infidelity. However, this didn't take away from me thoroughly enjoying the story.

How is it..

..no one noticed the narrator is a dead ringer for Lisa Simpson, with occasional visits from Bart? All of the men sound like they’re suffering from emphysema, though perhaps that was intentional.

The story is very good, the narration less so, but tolerable.

Cute and funny!

This book was a delight! Funny, charming, and a nice light escape from the serious! I usually don’t comment on the narrator, but Amanda Ranconi did a great on bringing the main character to life!

Absolutely hilarious!!!!

What an adorable read for a funny, snarky, smart story. Do not pass this one up. Every woman needs to hear it. I promise you won't be sorry. I'd give it a 10 if there were more stars! And..I'm going to look for more books read by Amanda Ronconi.
