Publisher's summary

Lacey Terwilliger's shock and humiliation over her husband's philandering prompt her to add some bonus material to Mike's company newsletter: stunning Technicolor descriptions of the special brand of "administrative support" his receptionist gives him. The detailed mass e-mail to Mike's family, friends, and clients blows up in her face, and before one can say "instant urban legend", Lacey has become the pariah of her small Kentucky town, a media punch line, and the defendant in Mike's defamation lawsuit.

Her seemingly perfect life up in flames, Lacey retreats to her family's lakeside cabin, only to encounter an aggravating neighbor named Monroe. A hunky crime novelist with a low tolerance for drama, Monroe is not thrilled about a newly divorced woman moving in next door. But with time, beer, and a screen door to the nose, a cautious friendship develops into something infinitely more satisfying.

Lacey has to make a decision about her long-term living arrangements, though. Should she take a job writing caustic divorce newsletters for paying clients, or move on with her own life, pursuing more literary aspirations? Can she find happiness with a man who tells her what he thinks and not what she wants to hear? And will she ever be able to resist saying one... last... thing?

Fast moving, entertaining story!

This book was a fun read or the genre that I would call a beach book!
Not terribly taxing mentally but something that you don't want to end.

Briefly, the book is about a young woman, Lacey, whose husband, Mike, cheats on her with his bimbo secretary. Lacey ends up telling everyone on the company email list both what he did and that she is leaving him in an emailed newsletter that she wrote. After Lacey leaves, Mike moves his secretary into the family home.

The only issue I had in the story is the blame that Lacey and everyone seems to put on her, rather than on the cheating scumbag. Seems like the entire town thinks that she should forgive him and stay married.

I find that the reader can make or break a book, and Amanda Ronconi made the book. In fact, I will look for other books read by her.

Laugh out loud

I have just recently found Molly Harper and I love her books. This book made me laugh out loud. I typically only listen to audio books only in my car. This one I couldn't stop. I brought it everywhere with me because I needed more. Now that I'm done I a already trying to formulate the appropriate amount of time to wait before I listen again.

The lighter side of heartache

Lacey has been married to Mike for years and while her marriage was never passionate she thought it was stable. Then an order of flowers are sent to Lacey by mistake they are really for Mike's receptionist who is also Mike's mistress. Well Lacy is quite humiliated and she decides to get back by sending a mass e-mail to all of their friends, family and clients. Well one would think that people would sympathize with Lacey but they don't instead Lacey is forced to retreat to a lakeside cabin to lay low while things in town simmer down. At the lake house Lacey meets Monroe and ex-cop and crime novelist who likes isolation. Needless to say Monroe is not exactly happy to have a divorcee right next door who may or may not have a lot of drama.Meanwhile Lacey needs to figure out her life, what will she do for money? What does she like?

Normally I am not a fan of contemporary romance but I think Molly Harper is the greatest so I willing to take a chance. This book if very funny and Amanda Ronconi (narrator) just makes it all better. Lacey is a great character I like that she is for the most part rational but when she is irrational she really jumps off the deep end. This feels like a story that could actually happen. I also like the way that Mike was portrayed, he seemed like a man who just never thought about what he wanted and instead went along with everyone's expectations.

At first I thought it odd that she is entering a relationship with Monroe even if it is supposed to be casual but at the end it works.

Great story that is a lot of fun.

Solid, Light, Enjoyable Girlfriend Read

If you listen to books to get through traffic, this is like having a funny storytelling girlfriend in the car. The only problem was not wanting to get out of the car when I got to work.

A GREAT Listen to Book!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I would HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone wanting an easy listen narration. I listened to this book while driving many long hours between Illinois, Chicago to Springfield IL then to Monticello IN. The boring farm miles turned into hours of driving enjoyment listening to Amanda Ronconi narrate this story.

Any additional comments?

Great Book, Enjoyable to listen to.

This is the 2nd book I chose specifically because Amanda Ronconi was the narrator. I really enjoy her ability to change characters and bring you into the situations. I will continue to 'look for' books narrated by Amanda to add to my library.

Laugh out loud funny

There were parts of this book that had me laughing hard and loud. You know what is going to happen but the story leads you right in. The narrator was spot on with the timing.
The ending was a big surprise for me. I was thinking a whole different ending.

Stand-Alone Novel from Molly Harper

This is a departure from most Molly Harper books for two reasons. First, it's a stand-alone novel and second, there's no supernatural elements in the story.

Another reason this is unique for Molly Harper, it's not really a romance. It's more chick-lit than romance. There's a romance element, but it's more chick-lit. It was enjoyable, and we got to see Lacey grow up and learn from her decisions. There was some good comedy and though the secondary characters weren't super great, they were functional enough to not detract from Lacey's story.

4 stars for Amanda Ronconi as well, who always does a great job with her narration of Molly's books.
