Publisher's summary

Lacey Terwilliger's shock and humiliation over her husband's philandering prompt her to add some bonus material to Mike's company newsletter: stunning Technicolor descriptions of the special brand of "administrative support" his receptionist gives him. The detailed mass e-mail to Mike's family, friends, and clients blows up in her face, and before one can say "instant urban legend", Lacey has become the pariah of her small Kentucky town, a media punch line, and the defendant in Mike's defamation lawsuit.

Her seemingly perfect life up in flames, Lacey retreats to her family's lakeside cabin, only to encounter an aggravating neighbor named Monroe. A hunky crime novelist with a low tolerance for drama, Monroe is not thrilled about a newly divorced woman moving in next door. But with time, beer, and a screen door to the nose, a cautious friendship develops into something infinitely more satisfying.

Lacey has to make a decision about her long-term living arrangements, though. Should she take a job writing caustic divorce newsletters for paying clients, or move on with her own life, pursuing more literary aspirations? Can she find happiness with a man who tells her what he thinks and not what she wants to hear? And will she ever be able to resist saying one... last... thing?

I want ALL Molly Harper Books!

This book is about a woman who was pretty much a stepford wife and she finds out one day that her husband is having an affair....normally this is a pretty touchy subject for me, but it's molly harper, so I had to see if she could spin such an emotionally charged topic into her typical comic brilliance...she did!

This book doesn't gloss over the cheating, it doesn't justify it, it doesn't even make you feel bad for the wife who was cheated on, you are too busy laughing your butt off! I have read Molly Harper's books in the past with Vampires in them...so this was a stretch for me to have no paranormal what so ever, but it was GREAT! Great characters, narration that nails it, and just the flow of the book leaves you wanting to hear more! I sincerely hope Audible has a Molly Harper only sale soon, I'd buy everything!

kind of trite

I find I do not care how this book turns out. I suppose you might enjoy it if you despise your ex-husband or want to divorce your current one, but otherwise it's not that funny.

Very Funny Southern Romance - Sexy without Porn

As a 50 something woman, I find most "romantic comedies" to be boring and immature. However, I found "And One Last Thing" to be very funny and entertaining. The main character is in her early 30s, so I was pleasantly surprised to find myself identifying with her situation and sometimes laughing aloud. The southern characters were humorous without being cartoonish and the "love scenes" didn't sound like soft porn (which I find too common and extremely weird). The plot wasn't the typical "woman is miserable until man comes into her life and fixes everything". The author has written great one-liners, a interesting small-town setting and a group of supporting characters that make this book an very enjoyable listen and/or read.

Rebound Love

This is about a marriage gone wrong and a women's fury. It is extremly entertaining to travel the road to independence for Lacey Terwilliger. Yet, it is not realistic the you leave your husband and the next day you meet your next love intrest. That is novel relationships not something that happens in real life.

No fangs or fur... No problem.

First Thought:

Another great snarky and funny book by Harper. I didn’t even miss the fangs and fur.

Why I listened:

I can’t say no to the team of Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi.

The Story:

And One Last Thing is about a marriage on the rocks in a small town in true Harper style. Who else can a real life issue like a cheating husband and make it funny like Harper can? Lacy finds out that her high school sweetheart turned husband has been cheating on her with his assistant. Does Lacy handle it quitly? Well no, she lets the whole town know in a very funny way. I’ll have to remember Lacy’s move if I ever find myself in her shoes.

The Characters:

Lacy is much like other heriones in Harper’s books. She’s smart, funny and sassy. I was behind Lacy 100% of the time and she had me laughing my butt off.

Mike is the walking parody of a man having a mid-life crisis.

Monroe is the hunky, Wovlerine look-a-like that helps Lacy get her mojo back. Even though he doesn’t want to be that cleshay.

Final Thought:

Molly Harper has cemented her spot on my auto buy list, no paranormal required.

A fun frolic with serious undertones...

Found myself laughing out loud more than once. I love good wit & banter and this departure had plenty. A serious subject that can be heartbreaking was reduced to a therapeutic rant. I enjoyed the respite from some of the darker & deeper listens.

Delightful

Would you consider the audio edition of And One Last Thing... to be better than the print version?

Although this audio gave "voice" to the character, I didn't particularly like the "voice." I don't think it is better than the print version.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The main character...Lacey...was my favorite. There was a lot of personality in other characters and I loved the interactions.

Which character – as performed by Amanda Ronconi – was your favorite?

Frankly, I didn't care for Amanda's reading of any of the characters. Sometimes, she forgot to have the nasal twang, which was better.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I loved the letter! I was the best However, I also appreciated the point near the end when she made a decision for the direction of her life.

Any additional comments?

One Last Thing is so funny. It grabbed me from the beginning when Lacey mistakenly received flowers from her husband...but the flowers weren’t for her...they were for his secretary and mistress. Lacey managed to contain her outrage and maintain control of her hurt for days. Finally, she had enough and announced her situation in her husband’s client newsletter...the letter is hysterical! Lacey is a great character and I hope this books starts a series.
