"Light and funny! A very enjoyable listen!"

I was given this audio book in exchange for an honest review. This was my second Romantic Comedy Rich Amooi book and I was very anxious to listen to it.
This is the story of Sydney and Oscar. They are engaged (to other people) and are on a cruise to Alaska without their fiances--a sure sign of trouble in paradise. They meet over the dessert table and ensue "fighting" over the last eclair. They soon discover that they are perfect for each other, but there is the teeny, tiny issue of the fiances left at home. What to do? They come up with a plan, We all know things don't always go as planned. Will they ever make it back together or should they just have shared the eclair and gone their separate ways?
This book made me laugh. Yea! The performance by Ryan Kennard Burke was spot on! If you like this book I highly recommend Kissing Frogs by Rich Amooi, which I enjoyed even more than An Eclair to Remember.

    "Serendipity wins!"

Who would have thought that a modern-day guy could write such a beautiful love story?
I loved it! Think I sat with a huge grin plastered on my face 90% of the time. The rest of the time I still listened/read with rapt attention.
Where has this author been hiding until recently? He is so talented and all his stories just communicate and make you feel and love along with the characters.
If you're not a believer in serendipity, you will be by the end of this story.

    "Great Book!"
    Any additional comments?

This is another great humorous romance by Rich Amooi and narrated by Ryan Kennard Burke. This book can be listened to in one sitting if you have the time, once I started listening to it I didn’t want to put it down until the end. Sydney St. James is working a job she hates and is engaged to a man who works nonstop and she is having cold feet. She takes off on a cruise with her best friend to Alaska. Oscar is Silicon Valley’s most eligible bachelor and is also having issues he is ready to call off his engagement to his fiancĂ©. He is hoping that they can save their relationship on a cruise to Alaska, but he fiancĂ© refuses to go, so he goes without her. On the first night of the cruise he meets Sydney as they both reach for the last Ă©clair at the dessert station; she ends up smashing it in his face. The more time they spend together they realize that they are perfect for each other and that serendipity has brought them together.

The narrator Ryan Kennard Burke did a great job with this book. He did a great job with the different voices of each character in this book. It was very easy to listen to in one sitting and I didn’t want to stop listening until the end.

If you are looking for a fun book with great characters then you need to listen to this book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator.

    "Fun Chick-Lit"

"This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of AudiobookBlast dot com."

This story by Rich Amooi was a fun "read", well-narrated by Ryan Kennard Burke. As you might guess from the title, the story line followed some of the main themes of the classic An Affair to Remember, but only in the most general way.

Expect some laughs, some smiles, and a fun few hours when you listen. The characters were consistent, if not particularly deep - but that really goes with the light and breezy style of the book itself. This is a good choice for listening to while stretched out on your lounger in the shade, listening to the surf!.

"Another good story by Mr. Amooi"

This is the latest story. Not my favorite, but still good. The female lead started to get on my nerves toward the end, but I could understand her reasoning. More angst then normal. But funny like always. Would really love to see a story about his friend and hers.

I really felt bad for Elliot. Poor man.

"Just enough of a departure to be pleasant"
    Any additional comments?

I knew this story would be similar to "An Affair to Remember" but there was enough of a departure from that story to make this an enjoyable listen. The only flaw with this title is the narration of Oscar. It's mentioned several times that Oscar was from Spain. That was not evident, not even a little, in the narration of this character. It would not have been noticeable had the author not alluded to Oscar's heritage so often. Having that as a reminder made listening with no hint of an accent, a bit of a distraction. Still, it was a good story and a good listen.

    "Love is sweet!"
If you could sum up An Eclair to Remember in three words, what would they be?

    light, romantic and sweet

What was one of the most memorable moments of An Eclair to Remember?

    Any additional comments?

And it all started with an eclair. Sydney is on the cruise with her best friend to celebrate her upcoming wedding and Oscar was hoping that the cruise would give him some time with his fiancee to see if this is what he truly wanted but she refused to come along. In a chance meeting, Serendipity anyone?, over an eclair at a dessert station, Oscar and Sydney come together for the first of many meetings on the ship. As the cruise continues and they continue to meet up, Oscar and Sydney start to doubt their current relationships and whether or not this new one is what they want.

Mr. Amooi has done it again. He has written a story that will take hold of you and not let go. I like the fact that his characters are actual grown ups with real lives etc. The are people who have experienced life. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys are light but thoughtful romance. I also recommend Mr. Crotchety by Mr. Amooi. Again another story about grown up characters!

Mr. Burke is a gifted narrator. He is able to draw you further into the story with his charm, sense of accents and his emotion. I look forward to listening to more of Mr. Burke's work.

    "Quick FUN listen!"

--I was given a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

What a breath of fresh air! This book was so much fun! It is my first Rich Amooi book and it is certainly not going to be my last. Sydney and her best friend Gina venture on a bachelorette party cruise to Alaska. Gina does not think Sydney fiancee, Elliot is a good match for her and she is settling. Oscar, the second sexiest man alive is also engaged and unhappy on this cruise. Sydney and Oscar meet over the last eclair, and it is instant chemistry. The banter between the two of these characters is light, funny, emotional and loving. When they leave the cruise, the agree to meet after a month in middle of the Golden Gate Bridge...one does not show...by why? You will have to read/listen to find out!

Ryan Kennard Burke does a wonderful job portraying this book He brings a lilt to his voice when needed, an English accent, a Spanish accent and all out great cast of characters! It's a great listen and is highly recommended!

    "Good story, told poorly"

There's not much suspense in An Eclair to Remember, if you've seen the Grant-Kerr movie, or it's 1939 predecessor Love Affair. That's okay, because it'a nice story, and Amooi has a deft touch with light romance. What put me off was the terrible narration.

I'm glad I had both the Kindle and the Audible versions of this book, because the narrator drove me away pretty quickly. His narration often sounds as if it's directed at a class of elementary school children. The narrator is frequently overly dramatic, and doesn't differentiate between genders. Most important, he overlooks Oscar's Spanish accent and pronunciation which is an important part of the book.

Do yourself a favor and read this one. It's short enough to get through in an afternoon. Skip the recorded version.

    Story
    "Brilliant as always"

This is an excellent book, though I have to say Mr Crotchety is still at the top of my list. But it was a close call!

This is a simple tale of love at first fight. Sydney and Oscar meet at a buffet table during their first night abroad to Alaska. They both set their eyes on the only remaining eclair. Of course, conflict is inevitable when there's dessert involved! For me, its mostly with chocolate (I just don't share when it comes to chocolate, but a bite of my buttered crossaint? Sure, you don't even have to ask.) Anyway that is how the story really gets going: nothing like a hilarious fight to get the ball rolling.

What follows their initial meeting, is a random series of encounters. Wherever Sydney goes she is sure to run into Oscar. He explains it with the word: serendipity. I'm not sure I'm a believer, it seems a little too good to be true. Though there was definitely an element of magic (maybe not the right word- I saw the 'Now You See Me' film this weekend and I'm still enthralled), or fate, when it came to their relationship. How is it that they both embarked on a world trip to Alaska? How is it that they are both engaged, and left their respective fiancés at home? Fate, right? They were meant to happen: everything happens for a reason- and this, I firmly believe. But that is not all to the story- there's how Oliver is a bit of a celebrity, there's Sydney's best friend and then, there's a wholly unpredictable turn near the end which I just didn't see coming. So, I was completely focussed, It was a good turn and kept things really interesting.

I remember how I first discovered one of Rich Amooi's books, I was looking for a romantic novel by a male author. But I wanted it to be a bit lighter, more humourous, than the average Nicholas Sparks novel. Yep, I'm fussy. But I'm glad for it. With Rich Amooi's books, it's as though every line is perfectly crafted, so well though-out, to have you smiling and maybe even laughing. It's brilliant. No other word for it. A special kind of talent. And that also has a lot to do with the narrator, Ryan Kennard Burke, he has the voice of an entertaining storyteller. It must have been difficult to have read the especially cheesy lines with a straight face and a serious voice. That, in itself, is talent. I'm not sure I could manage it...But he pulled it off, reading the lines with as much genuineness as possible. Very convincing.

And with one last, more to the point (apparently, according to Amooi, women always get to the point), remark of how this title was worth purchasing, I conclude this review.
