Publisher's summary

Liberty minded individuals and those who believe in the Constitution will find this near future dystopian novel to be right up their alley. Those who are looking to be more informed about the potential threats to America's financial stability will learn what to watch for and how to prepare themselves for an economic collapse.

America is on the cusp of financial annihilation. Matt and Karen Bair face the challenges of Main Street during a full scale financial meltdown. Government borrowing and monetary creation have reached their limits. When funds are no longer available for government programs, widespread civil unrest erupts across the country. Matt and Karen are forced to move to a more remote location and their level of preparedness is revealed as being much less adequate than they believed prior to the crisis.

Meanwhile, Paul Randall, a third party presidential candidate arises to push back against the welfare and warfare spending that have bankrupted our country. While he has gained expansive acceptance, the fight has just begun. Paul Randall proposes a plan to mitigate the coming hyper-inflationary collapse which is a mathematical certainty. His plan is known as The American Exit Strategy.

American Exit Strategy uses survival fiction to take an in-depth look at the real life politics and economics behind the issues that are likely to trigger a currency collapse or financial meltdown in the near future.

American Exit Strategy is a work of fiction…until it becomes history.

Fantastic!

I loved this book! Accurate representation of reckless government spending and the collapse it would inevitably cause. The use of Scripture and quotes from American figures really solidify the story. I already purchased the rest of the series, too.

A warning of things to come

I liked this book. I found it both realistic fiction and educational. I understand what someone else reviewing this said in that it feels like they are preaching at you a bit, but I feel that they are also trying to educate the reading in real world things like economic, political and survival realities and how a lack of principals and personal virtue can and is leading to the collapse of our economy and the government of free people set up by the founding fathers.

It feels like the writer is really concerned about how people aren't paying attention to what is happening and is warning up to prepare to defend our selves and feed ourselves when we no longer have a welfare government to support us. I bought the second book to finish this as soon as I was done with the first book.

Topical but Bland Delivery

What did you like best about this story?

The story was topical, complete with comically named characters with a direct parallel to well-known modern political figures.

Would you be willing to try another one of Kevin Pierce’s performances?

I found the narrator to be bland and hard to distinguish between characters. I intend on finishing this series but will avoid any future readings by this person.

Who was the most memorable character of American Exit Strategy and why?

All characters were caricatures of their real world equivalent and I couldn't relate to any as a favorite. It didn't diminish from the story but rather highlighted the differences between the personalities active today.

I liked the start of every chapter and the story l

I like series books that help the reader understand the story line. narrator can get more into the book. was hard to keep the emotions that went with what was going on.

A Novel or a Lecture

I have listened to a lot of these books on end of the world scenarios, but so far I have never written reviews on them. This book bothered me enough that I decided to put my comments down.

The positive things in the book are:
The narrator Kevin Pierce - he is so good that most everyone who writes these kind of books use him. I appreciate the author has a lot of knowledge in multiple areas and in understanding the issues in prepping for worst case scenarios. I appreciate his keeping swearing out of the book by understanding a large segment of the people who read these books prefer it that way. When I was about to give up on the book, it had moments with good action and suspense in the story that made me want to continue.

What I did not like was: The awkwardness where the author would use the characters to give his lectures on: Government, conservative thought, monetary policy, guns and ammo, the welfare system, how to store food, how to bugout, military strategy, how solar works, how tools work on a farm, and multiple other topics. I grew very tired of being schooled and lectured to. You would be surprised to know that I actually agree with the author on most of the positions he takes. I was simply sick of being lectured to. The start of the book was the worst, trying to get past the lectures on government and conservative thought. Because the book would start to get interesting, I would continue. However the author would always go back to the lecture circuit which made me dislike the style of his writing. My dilemma is should I continue with book two. With my above comments you would think no way. I have the hope that the author would just focus on the story telling and layoff the lectures. I do like books that give interesting thoughts of how to prepare for an end of world scenario, but this book goes to far.

Comparing this book to other authors I will draw some comparisons. I started these kind of books with William Forstchen in One Second After. He is a good story teller, moderate in the swearing, and some useful prepper ideas. Franklin Horton is the best story teller, excellent prepper ideas, but very heavy in the swearing that I could do without. However the Horton books are so good I still keep buying them. Tom Abrahams the Traveler Series is excellent in the story telling, low on any swearing, and lean on prepper ideas. I will skip mentioning others. My dilemma is that Mark Goodwin has enough knowledge that I think I could learn some possible good prepper ideas from him. I just do not know if I can tolerate his lecturing anymore.

For now I will jump into a book about a Pandemic.

Interesting...

A decent tribute to the genre. I’ve enjoyed a number of books along this line and this one was no exception, however, I was a little disappointed and a couple of things. Number one: just say that the United States military is there to do nothing but kill people and nothing else shows that you have absolutely no clue of the role that the military has taken on in the last 20 to 30 years. We are off on a peacekeeping armada, and are there is a show of force to avoid at all cost bloodshed. Because even though violence is needed in many circumstances the strong know how to prevent violence if it all possible. Number two: it is pre-65 coinage that is 90% silver not pre-64 do your research please. and last but certainly not least, libertarians and their isolationist mentality and low opinion of the military has always left me cold. It’s often the reason why I refer to myself as a hard-core right wing constitutional conservative even though I have some libertarian leanings I would never become a member of the party or call myself one because honestly I think they are too weak to lead. In order to have strong borders you have to reach beyond your own borders to scout out and see what is coming. You don’t wait until the devils at your door before you take action you seek him out long before he gets here.

Great book

Don’t listen to the liberals review. They don’t know history. Everything reverts back to basic instincts in emergency situations. News flash, women won’t timber the ones standing in the gaps, never have, never will. Left is delusional.

Another great audible book

I have read almost all of his books now. They are all well written. I feel as though I am there, struggling with the other characters. I have learned a lot from them about our economy and future events. And I am learning how to prepare for what’s coming. Thanks!

Almost Prophetic!!

Would you listen to American Exit Strategy again? Why?

Yes. As a matter of fact I'm on my second listen. Some of the chapters of this book seem ripped from the headlines... of our near future!

What other book might you compare American Exit Strategy to and why?

"Patriots" and "One Second After" come to mind, with a little A. American thrown in.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Everything. Scott Brick or Joe Barrett would have been sooooooo much better.

Who was the most memorable character of American Exit Strategy and why?

Al Mohammad. Is anyone not going to know the author was describing the high an lofty BHO??

Any additional comments?

This is a very plausible scenario for the collapse of the USA. The story was hindered by the narration but not such that I couldn't connect with it. This isn't an in-depth survivalist guide but you will learn a lot from this book.

This book will make lefties cry and exhibit signs of road-rage.
