Publisher's summary

Agincourt is classic Cornwell...[with] attention to historical detail, well-paced action, and descriptive writing that is a pleasure to read." (Boston Globe)

Bernard Cornwell, the New York Times best-selling "reigning king of historical fiction" (USA Today), tackles his most thrilling, rich, and enthralling subject yet - the heroic tale of Agincourt. The epic battle immortalized by William Shakespeare in his classic Henry V is the background for this breathtaking tale of heroism, love, devotion, and duty from the legendary author of the Richard Sharpe novels and the Saxon Tales. This extraordinary adventure will captivate from minute one, proving once again and most powerfully, as author Lee Child attests, that "nobody in the world does this stuff better than Cornwell."

"Nobody in the world does this stuff better than Cornwell. (Lee Child, author of Nothing to Lose)
"Readers who haven't discovered Bernard Cornwell don't know what they are missing....He may well be the best historical novelist writing today -- and Agincourt may well be his best novel yet. (Vince Flynn, author of Extreme Measures)

Classic Cornwall

Great example of the Cornwall genre. Historical fiction with vivid characters. While some of the character development and plot can be a bit formulaic, it’s always enjoyable.

While the narration was superb, the one annoying aspect of this audio book (as noted by others) was the bizarre need to drop in a musical score at odd moments. The score sounds like something budget (“scores r us”) when the producer of the audio book couldn’t decide between a Disney musical theme or Star Wars. What came out was a mash up of the two. Ugh.

Amazing!

The first part of this novel is not for the faith of heart. However, the combination of Cornwell's storytelling and Keating's performance combine to make a great listening experience.

One of his best works.

If you had liked any of Bernard Cornwell's books or are a fan of Medieval historical fiction this is a must read. Even I was wide eyed at a few moments at some of the more brutal elements of the story of what comes with such times and it can be gut punching as we fallow Hooks journey. This is truly a great story of a Archer with a family feud and finds his way to the famous battle of Agincourt. I really appreciate the historical notes at the end being a history geek I appreciate a author who is up front about the liberties he takes and why.

Loved This Book

Historical fiction is one of my favorite genres. Hearing the story of an actual historical battle from the perspective of someone who is there is intriguing. I started with The Saxon Tales, but this story is one of my favorites from Bernard Cornwell.

Wonderful

Engrossing story with a powerful performance. This story chronicles a chapter of English history I wasn’t familiar with. It was a wonderful listen and I highly recommend.

great presentation of medieval legend

excellent story, necessarily compressed to allow for the sweeping scope...for anyone with medieval interests, this is easily recommended

Azincourt - gd it good listen,

Not for the faint-of-heart language-wise, but a great read. A Cleaned up version should be just as good.
Had me Googling previous battles such as Edward III foray into Normandy and other similar battles. Enjoyed the Epilog , tied it all in. Being of Welsh origin I enjoyed the references back to the Homeland. Even learned a little bit more about Owain

Excellent in every way.

Truly worth every second. I found myself listening to this book through out the days even if I only had a few moments. A snow day occured and I had a lovely time listening for several hours. This book will be one that I will reread several times. Narrator was excellent also.

Astounding!

Medieval history both fascinates and pains me. There’s just so much war and pain and disaster in human history. But the human spirit is strong. This book demonstrates that strength while mercilessly detailing the horrors of battle.

I don’t like reading about war, but I became attached to some of the characters the moment I met them in the story. Their outrage, sorrow, hopes, and moments of happiness became mine as I listened, frequently holding my breath. There’s never a dull moment.

This is an astonishing book. The Audible version is great, the narration smooth and seamless.

Highly recommended.

A great historical novel!

I thoroughly enjoyed Agincourt by Bernard Cornwell. I like historical novels. You can learn a little about history without getting caught up in the tedium of "facts and statistics". The narrator Charles Keating did a great job! I will look for other books he has narrated. A very enjoyable tale of knights and maidens in the chivalrous age of yester-year.
