Would make an awesome movie
Four stars was all I could give this book, and I have to admit I went back and forth between a three and a four...
The book was good, but not great. The story is a bit unbelievable, however, as a reader looking to be entertained I can put that aside, get into the book, and enjoy the story.
The book is very graphic in it's details, which once you understand the basic plot is really the only way to tell it. This book would make an awesome movie.

Good book, awesome narriator.
The book wss not as scary as I had hoped, but very suspenseful with non-stop action. The narriator did an excellent job portraying the diffrrent characters which really helps you get into the story. Good listen.

MY SON AND HIS FRIENDS LIKED THIS BOOK.... WE LISTENED TO IT ON A TRIP TO NEW ORLEANS. THEY REALLY LIKED IT... WAS A GOOD LISTEN BUT WAS A BIT MUCH FOR THIS FEMALE.

AWESOME!
If you could sum up Afraid in three words, what would they be?
This was a great book - that kept you listening - and the narrator, Phil Gigante - is so far the BEST - that I have listened to - it made me actually picture the characters by the voices the did for them - KUDOS!!!!!!!!

Never- but for sure will NOW - this is how I am going to search for books - by the narrator!

Action, Horror, Mystery - you get it ALL - and romance - through all the tragedy - and family coming together - it had EVERYTHING!
OMGosh - I was thinking last night -when the book was over - OH - I wish this was a movie!

Only listen if you have a strong stomach
If you’re looking for something to make you squirm this is your book. I’ll admit that it doesn’t have much of a plot but if you’re looking for blood, guts and gratuitous violence then this is the book for you. A bunch of crazed killers are let loose in a remote Wisconsin town and the story jumps around from location to location as people are slaughtered and tortured as they look for the person they’re searching for. To give you a sense of how gruesome this book is, I was listening to part of it while eating my lunch and shortly after I started eating I wished I wasn’t. This book is perfect for Halloween time if you’re not prone to nightmares!
Mr. Gigante does a great job with the narration especially some of the more memorably disturbed characters.

Great action horror story.
Great action filled story but gore was a little over dramatized. My favorite part was when the sheriff's foot got caught in the bear trap. The amount of detail was unbelievable.

Violent not gory
Previews that I read all said that this book was gory. I disagree with that statement. There is a lot of violence and the suggestion of gore. but it is not gory. The book does jump around between multiple characters, which requires you to pay a lot of attention. Overall, this book is violent and fast paced. I would not suggest this book for minors, but the average adult should enjoy it.
