A helicopter has crashed near Safe Haven and unleashed something horrifying. Now this merciless force is about to do what it does best. Isolate. Terrorize. Annihilate. As residents begin dying in a storm of gory violence, Safe Haven's only chance for survival will rest with an aging county sheriff, a firefighter, and a single mom. And each will have this harrowing thought: Maybe death hasn't come to their town by accident...

I LOVE books. And dogs & quilting & beading & volunteering.
Not only NOT worth a credit, it's a truly awful and unnecessarily gory book. And I LIKE Stephen King books.
The narration was good-or as good as could be expected from a poor story arc-and the basic premise behind the book is a good one but for some reason the author needed to try and make it more violent, gory and just plain gross than the plot called for.
Though nothing like the Chelsea Cain "Heartbreak" books, I was reminded of them while listening to this - and I did listen to the whole thing. thats the frustrating part..the premise was good..WHY did these monsters want 'Warren' so badly. The reason why was a big let down and the ending trite.
I've not heard of the author before and I doubt I'll be looking for more of his work
Very gory and intense, but the narration by Phil Gigante was nothing short of brilliant. He was able to acheive a different tone for each character, as well as get the maniacle giggling of one of the protaganists down pat. Good job!
Totally engrossing. A little on the gory side, but a fantastic read. I couldn't stop listening to it. One of the best I've heard in a long time.
First off, this book is very graphically violent, so those that have a problem with that should avoid this book.
For everyone else, if you love great thrillers, download this right now! It's the best, most intense thriller I've listened to in several months. A team of crazed murderers take over a small town in Wisconsin, and only a few people are left to stop them.
The action begins on page 1 and doesn't stop until the end. It moves along very quickly, with no unnecessary filler. The characters are adequately developed, but the story is really about action, not characters.
Phil Gigante, while he's not my favorite narrator, does a good job in this book, although I would have preferred it read by a more appriopriate thriller narrator, like Dick Hill for instance.
Very intense and quick-paced, with visceral violent action. I highly recommend.
I think my jaw hit the floor atleast 50 times while listening to this book. It was absolutley filled with suspense! From the very begining it was game on for the crazy, suspensful, gross, plot. The characters ranged from heroic to more derranged then Jeffrey Dalmer. In fact a couple of these characters made Jeffrey Dalmer seem like a candy striper. Seriously! This is not for the person with a weak stomach. I loved it!!!!!!!! Can't wait for the next book!
This is the first book I have read from this author. It is fast paced and action packed from the start. It has great character depth and the narator does a good job. I can't think of anything negative to say about it and I am a picky reader. I look forward to more books from this author.
I loved it. Absolutely not not for people with weak stomachs. Great fast listen. Sure to keep your attention. Thrilling, chilling, sickening. Descriptions of some events and situations are so over the top that it is funny. This author is terribly sick. I can't wait for his next book. I'm hooked.
My husband and I listened to this book together & both agree it's one of the best we've come across in a long time. We were hooked from the first chapter - the cringing & carnage never stopped. We devoured this listen in days!
A special ops force lands in a small town and an intensely gruesome and unrelenting nightmare begins. Leaving only a handful of people to fight back.
My only criticism, beside yelling at the victims to wake up & take action is that the author should have put a little more effort in developing the victories. He falls just short of having you cheering for the good guys.
This author wrote a few books using the name J. A. Konrath (cop stories). Jack Kilborn's second book 'Trapped' is due out Winter 2010 & we can't wait!
