What begins as an earnest spring-clean soon spirals out of control. The more Lou lets go of, the more light can get to those painful places at the centre of her heart. When she meets hunky local man Tom Broom, she sees her philandering husband in a very different light. But, even with Tom's help, can Lou Winter manage to put the spring back into her step? And who knows where her newfound zest for the stripped-back life will take her next?

Yes I almost did not buy this book because the description did not sound appealing, however I was desperate when on holidays and used a credit purely because it was a Milly Johnson book. I was pleasantly surprised it was great.
Lou because she went for what she wanted and got it.
Yes she is always great.
No it was a light happy read very enjoyable but not moving.
This was a great story, well written and read. Characters were very believable and had depth and personality. Nice long story, I was sorry to get to the end. Concept was also believable and interesting. My dogs got extra walks just so I could take my iphone and listen to the next few chapters!
Do you ever get the inclination to clean, which, when done, makes you aware of other things that also need the boot? The more the heroine cleaned, the more she saw things that were wrong in her home and life, including an insufferable husband. Go Lou!
Got this one after "the birds and the bees" and was glad.
It has a more serious tone and the story is quite real, I would dare to say it makes you think a bit on some things but keeps its lightness via the romance, which of course is faery tale stuff....but that is after all the reason why one listens to this kind of things.
One more thing, the book is nicely written meaning doesn't repeat same phrases or words again and again or uses cliches until you are gaging.
Narrator is good.
All in all WORTH IT !!!
This was a great listen from beginning to end and well worth the purchase. I enjoyed the narration and was able to picture each person in my mind. I highly recommend this book.
One of the best. Have listened twice. Light fluffy feel great story.
Totally engrossed me and inspired me to have a clean out myself.
Yes. She is very consistent and lovely. Easy to understand even though the phrases are new to me (being from the States).
Not sure. I like the name.
Milly Johnson is now one of my favourite authors, listened to all 5 of her audible books, excellent stuff!
I study native plants, do revegetation projects, edit a newsletter, keep databases for clubs I belong to, and photograph (mostly plants).
highly enjoyable; I'll listen to it at least twice.
Those which are more difficult to understand or which have more complex storylines I listen to more than twice.
The solid Joe Broom was excellent and full of a few surprises.
When Sue finally found a convincing reason to leave house and home.
Romance of the Skip (sp?)
I'll keep my eyes peeled for other titles by this author. The narrator was brilliant!
I don't know have not read the story
Some lines really made you chuckle..........well read just an enjoyable story away from the day to day life. A bit predictable at the end but a good soapie.
She is a lovely reader and you easily get into the story. A good reading voice.
Dreams can come true.
Its an weird thing but my favourite genre to read is murder/mystery books but when it comes to audio books, I love ChicLit! Odd I know!
As always, I so enjoy Milly Johnson's books. Her stories are so easy to follow, funny, heart warming etc and this one ticks all the boxes.
It is a light read but sometimes you just need the simple stories. As with most of Milly's books she always has that "secret" which keeps you reading as you have to find out what happens and this one is no exception.
It centres around a bunch of girl friends who go on a cruise and testimony to the writing, after finishing the book, I jumped on a cruising holiday website.
If you love Chick-lit, don't miss out on this one,
"Delightfully down-to-earth heroine wins through"
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It tells the story of Lou who copes with a domineering and not very faithful husband as well as family and so-called friends who do not value her true worth. One day she reads an article in a magazine claiming that clearing out one's unnecessary belongings is a good thing. She starts with her kitchen drawers but that was only the beginning and soon she realises that it is not just possessions that can clutter one's life. Beautifully read, it makes one laugh but also makes one think.
"A spring affair"
An excellent book with its characters based upon everyday people that we all know facing situations that are true to life. A book a very enjoyed and would highly recommend.
"A lovely warm feel good story"
This was the first book by Milly Johnson that I read and it remains one of my favourites. As always she creates characters that you really care about and who are totally believable and, of course, it has the necessary happy ending.
I think Lou is a great character. At the beginning she feels herself approaching middle age and the disappointments in her life have resulted in her losing her real self - something that I think many women can identify with. I just wish I was able to follow her lead and de-clutter my life as much as she manages to do.
This was my first experience of Colleen Prendergast's narration but I thought she was wonderful. Lou sounded exactly as I thought she should, she managed to give all the characters a clear identity which matched very much with how I had imagined them and her interpretation of the story was just right.
Declutter your life to find true happiness!
A great read AND a great audio book - enjoy!
"Another good book from Milly Johnson"
Milly Johnson keeps writing entertaining and well written books. Perhaps not her best, but definately worth listening to. A very enjoyable book and well read.
