Stories from the Range: Book One

After a year in medical school, Dakota Holden returned home to take care of the family business full time and help his father cope with multiple sclerosis. Devoted to his family, Dakota allows himself just one week of vacation a year, which he spends in some exotic location having all the fun he can stand. On his last vacation, a cruise, Dakota struck up a friendship with Phillip Reardon, and it fills an important role in Dakota’s life.

So when Phillip decides to take Dakota up on his invitation to visit the ranch, Dakota is happy to see him and meet his veterinarian friend, Wally Schumacher. Despite Wally’s inclination to help the wolves Dakota’s men shoot to protect the cattle, he and Dakota find they have a lot in common, including a fierce attraction. But they’ll have to decide if the Wyoming range is big enough for Dakota’s cattle, Wally’s wolves, and their love.

...Maybe better Read than Heard

The voices assigned to the main characters should be switched. This one aspect of the narration made this book most difficult to finish.

Loved it!

I loved this book. Dakota and Wally were sweet together. I am a huge animal lover, so the addition of the wolves into the storyline was a bonus. Like a lot of the reviews I was shocked at the voice the narrator gave Dakota. His and Wally’s voices should have definitely been switched. It’s a testament to how much I loved the story that I continued listening. In the future please don’t give a feminine voice to a hot alpha cowboy!

Good story. Okay narration.

Interesting characters. Decent plot development. Appreciated the wolves' story worked into the plot. The narrator didn't quite seem to suit the characters though.

Sweet Story but just OK narration

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Maybe

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

I did not like the narrator's interpretation of Dakota. He made him sound like a 10 year old girl. Dakota is suppose to be a 200+lb cowboy, WTF? On the other hand Wally has a deep baritone voice. It was weird.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not really.

Any additional comments?

If you enjoy sweet cowboy stories, you'll like this book. Just try to ignore the high pitched voice of Dakota.

Shame of about the narrator

The story was good but I am not sure why the narrator interpreted Dakota's character as speaking with the voice of a 5 year old girl. As much as I would like to listen to the rest of the series I am not sure I could tolerate another Dakota voice. It's odd because all the other characters are fine and Dakota seems to only slip in and out of this voice especially during sex which is just creepy and weird.

Love Dakota and Wally

Who doesn't love cowboys? I love the story plot as to how Dakota and Wally fall in love. If you're unsure about buying this book, Audible Escapes has this for free to listen to. It's an excellent book and how can you not fall in love with these two cowboys.

I have all 7 books and they are just great

I love the characters, I love the fact that there are 7 books. Of course Andrew Grey's books are all great. As a gay man I find these fun and relaxing, a way for me to enjoy some fantasying's world. It has a lot to do with men coming with grips of there gayness, and their need for loving and being loved. The world has changed and it is a good thing that it has.

Probably Andrew Grey's Best

I loved this book! After reading almost all of Andrew Grey's "Love Means..." series, which all follow a similar storyline and the same setting, it is a refreshing change. The characters are likeable and the story is easy to follow. I can't wait to listen again!

its a good story, but the narrator

This is a good book. Like a lot of the reviews, I don't understand the voice the narrator gave Dakota. Dakota and Wally were sweet together but i think their voices got switched. I'm not sure how i finished it with how the voices where but i got though it. The only thing i would like to ask is if a author describes alpha type man and you give them a very high pitch feminine voice. It makes it very hard for you picture how the character should look and sound.

Better to Read than listen to...

The story was cute but the narrator's voice choice for Dakota made my teeth grind and I had to fight the urge to stop listening because of it.
