Publisher's summary

In the late 90s, a bad cop killed a good woman and DC Homicide Detective Marty Singer got to watch as the murderer walked out of the courtroom a free man. Twelve years later, the victim's daughter comes to Marty begging for help: the killer is stalking her now. There's just one problem: Marty's retired...and he's retired because he's battling cancer. But with a second shot at the killer - and a first chance at redemption - Marty's just found…a reason to live.

Good New Find on Audible!

Any additional comments?

Good yarn, nice characterization, pacing, plot twists, excellent narration, some nice humor and life observations. In short, a well done and entertaining debut in this genre. I really liked the character of Marty Singer and as I am already devouring Book 2 of the series, I hope Mr Iden is busily working on the next installment as I am destined to be a fan for some time! I also hope Lloyd Sherr continues to narrate any future installments as he does an excellent job.

A Reason ro Live

I loced fhe pace of rhis book, fast and full of surprises. The cancer was sad, but is a fact of life. The narration was excellent.

Don’t like it

To much swearing for me. Never listen to another one by this author. Also don’t not care for the reader. Best readers are Dick Hill, Scott Brick and Orlagh Cassidy

Grabs you at first then improbable ending

Would you try another book from Matthew Iden and/or Lloyd Sherr?

No Spoilers … I enjoyed the first 80% but it became somewhat repetitious and talkative. As a realistic crime and suspense story there should be not unrealistic and stupid situations. Examples (not in book but to demonstrate). “And yes, Sherlock Holmes unveiled that the Murderer was … “The Wicked Witch of the East!” Stop her from taken off on her broom Watson.”There were several events that were implausible at the end and one that was a Whopper and that I could not digest and it screwed up my appreciation of the total book. No, it was not the unveiling of the mystery … but a situation that the police and justice would not possible allow. Not Logical … Mr. Spock.

Which scene was your favorite?

NA

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The first half and the plot and characters were intriguing.

Any additional comments?

I think the Author overlooked how how implausible one section was.
