Publisher's Summary

Detective Matthew Bennett doesn't believe in ghosts. So when the spirit of a murdered child leads him to her body, he's shaken to the core - and taken off the case. Unable to explain his vision, or to let go of the investigation, Matthew turns to renowned medium Kiernan Fitzpatrick. Though he has doubts about Kiernan's claims to communicate with the dead, Matt is nevertheless drawn to the handsome psychic, who awakens feelings he thought were long-buried.

Haunted by the lingering spirit of the little girl, Kiernan is compelled to aid in the search for her killer. The chance to get closer to the enigmatic Matt is an unexpected bonus. Although Kiernan's been betrayed by people who turned out to be more interested in his fame than in himself, with Matt he's willing to risk his heart. As the two men grow closer, Kiernan helps Matt rediscover that life offers no guarantees - but love offers a reason to believe....

    "Great story"

This was a very enjoyable book, I've never listened to a mystery novel, but this held my attention very well. The main characters were mostly believable though a bit over the top in the "perfect" category. Which, I admit, deterred me slightly. For me it's easier to relate to a character that has a few physical flaws. Overall this was an enjoyable listen.

"Oops! I didn't realize it was a gay love story..."

Seriously. I chose the book from my phone so the cover was tiny so I didn't realize it was two guys and I skimmed the summery only a little. Still, I really liked the book. The story was good and it just happened that the love story was about two guys. The love was realistic and the sex sensual. I like guys so when they talked about manly body parts it worked for me. The sex was nothing like the other gay books I fell upon like say "8 inches" that sex just seemed violent and painful.
The book was about the story and not really about two guys having sex. It was a well written romantic mystery with a great love story, sensual sex...who just happen to be nice guys.

    I liked it!

    "I am hooked."

Very well written and narrated. A reason to believe is a perfect title and couldn't wait for daily commute to hear more. Story line reminded me of actual event that occurred about the murder of a little beauty pageant queen. And it would be great it Kieran and Matt returned to solve more murders or cold cases.

    "Great Story!"
What made the experience of listening to A Reason to Believe the most enjoyable?

The story was for the most part very well written and developed.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character in this story was Matt. He felt very much like a regular guy to me, very personable and relateable.

What does Jack LeFleur bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I think he is one of the best Narrators that I have heard! He was very good! He gave the characters the perfect voices.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Some parts of the book made me laugh, Kiernen was funny.

    Any additional comments?

This was a very good read/listen. I thoroughly enjoyed the progression of the story and relationship between the main characters. My only gripe with this story is how Abby's realization and acceptance of what happened to her came too easily and it just seemed to wrap up the story to make it a happy ending. I would love to get a sequel to this, to see the progression of Matt and Kiernen's relationship.

    "Oh my gosh!"
Where does A Reason to Believe rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the best. I listen to a lot of books, but I don't write a lot of reviews. This book was gut-wrenching and endearing all at once. It was one of those books the compel you to just sit quietly for a moment at the end to let the story wash over you, and so decided I just had to make a recommendation.

What other book might you compare A Reason to Believe to and why?

It stands on it's own; I can't think of anything to compare it to.

Have you listened to any of Jack LeFleur’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not, but I'd love to listen to more of his narrations. He has a wonderfully soothing voice, and I got carried away just listening to him.

Who was the most memorable character of A Reason to Believe and why?

For me, Kiernan Fitzpatrick was an excellent character. He brought the entire story together, plus his little quirks were terribly endearing.

This was a re-read for me with the audio. I read this book three years ago, and I remember liking it, so I thought I'd check out the audio.

Detective Matt Bennett gets called out to a crime scene at Christmas Eve, where the murdered child appears to him as a ghost, and shows him where her body is hidden. This leads him into contact with the medium Kiernan Fitzpatrick. The very hot medium. Matt Bennett is still dealing with his loss of his partner and boyfriend over a year and a half ago, so he's thrown for a loop meeting Kiernan. They start out investigating the case of the murdered girl.

I really liked Matt and Kiernan's chemistry. I liked how they got to know each other, and Kiernan's easy going nature seem to "thaw" Matt's rigid emotional state. They were sweet and hot together. The build up was nice and slow, and very satisfying when they got together.

The case was also interesting due to the paranormal element. The bad guy wasn't that obvious, and I couldn't remember who it was since the last time I've read it, so I was guessing along with Matt and Kiernan.

I feel the narrator did a good job narrating. He's voice for Matt was deep, slow and raspy. A perfect "detective" voice. Kiernan's was lighter, and he had a slight Irish tilt or accent. I really liked that. It was easy to distinguish between the main character, and the secondary characters.

All in all, a great audio, good mystery and a sweet romance.

    "Wow!"

This is the first book I've read/heard by Diana Copland. It's fantastic!
I really liked Matt and Kiernan and enjoyed the progression of their relationship. Although some would say it's insta-love, it really didn't feel that way.
Sheila and Aidan were great in their supporting roles as well.
Jack LeFleur did an awesome job with his narration. He gave each character a very distinct voice. And he managed to make Abby sound very creepy during one of her final scenes. I won't say more or 'spoiler alert' will pop up.
If you own or have read the kindle version, I urge you to listen to the audio version. Jack's voices really make the book awesome.

Seems ripe for a sequel, Ms. Copland. And, Mr. Lefleur, you can read to me anywhere, any place, anytime! Great job!
