Publisher's summary

In A Promise for Spring by ACF Book of the Year novelist Kim Vogel Sawyer, Geoffrey Garrett leaves his 17-year-old fiancée in England while he establishes his Kansas ranch and builds her a proper house. But when he sends for her five years later in 1874, it's clear her feelings have changed far more than his. Despite his desire to marry and her wish to leave, they forge a compromise. If she remains as the ranch's housekeeper until spring, he will pay for her trip back home.

Love this narrator.

This is a sweet storyline, but the narrator totally brings it to life, she does such a good job.

Beautiful story

The narrator makes the story come alive! I was hoping the two riding up in the wagon at the end would be exactly who they were. When she said there was a wagon with two people… my mind said oh let it be…… and ……..! I have listened to this story in my car and even my husband and granddaughter know what is happening!!

The Irish accent they are from England. The narrator forgot they are from England.

Barbara Caruso is one of my favorite all-time narrators so talented. It was just hard to listen to because she’s using an Irish accent.

Least favorite of Kim's I've listened to thus far.

What disappointed you about A Promise for Spring?

Characters weak, immature, and bickering until the end.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Barbara Caruso?

I wouldn't have cast anyone else, I like Ms. Caruso's work and was glad to see she was going to narrate before I downloaded. But a lot of the time her English/England accent sounded more Irish. Still good work.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Loved Tildie's character and the strong faith in God she represented. She was my favorite character in this book.

for junior high school age females

This seems to be a preachy romance novel aimed at junior high age girls. If you fall into that demographic, it may not be bad. However, I found it juvenile, repetitive, and boring.
