Publisher's summary

Inspector Singh is in a bad mood. He's been sent from his home in Singapore to Kuala Lumpur to solve a murder that has him stumped. Chelsea Liew - the famous Singaporean model - is on death row for the murder of her ex-husband. She swears she didn't do it, he thinks she didn't do it, but no matter how hard he tries to get to the bottom of things, he still arrives back at the same place - that Chelsea's husband was shot at point blank range, and that Chelsea had the best motivation to pull the trigger: he was taking her kids away from her. Now Inspector Singh must pull out all the stops to crack a crime that could potentially free a beautiful and innocent woman and reunite a mother with her children.

There's just one problem - the Malaysian police refuse to play ball….

First in a set of Short Entertaining Crime Stories

Shamini Flint is definitely worth the read.

We get a loveable but regularly grumpy "cop" along with easily disliked killers from an author that leaves suspects, all over the place.

Quirky and quick its certainly not maudlin at all for a murder mystery.

Interesting story, wooden writing

A good novel draws you in and makes you forget that you’re reading. This novel didn’t succeed at that for me. The writing was very passive and it was difficult getting close to the characters. It felt as if I were reading a bad book report for a good book. The story was good. Not quite a detective story, because the detective felt a bit unnecessary, but it had a great setting. But that’s where the positive ended. There was very little ‘show’ and way too much ‘tell’. The author has a lovely vocabulary but a lousy writing style.
