Publisher's Summary

Here are two exciting stories featuring Lance Kilkenny by beloved Western writer Louis L'Amour.

In "A Man Called Trent", nester Dick Moffitt lies dead, killed by King Bill Hale's riders. His son Jack and adopted daughter Sally, who witnessed the murder, go for safety to a cabin owned by a man called "Trent" - an alias for Kilkenny, who is seeking to escape his reputation as a gunfighter.

In "The Rider of Lost Creek," Lance Kilkenny is the fastest gun in the West, but once the gunfight is over, he disappears. Some time back, Mort Davis saved Kilkenny's life. Now Davis needs Kilkenny's help with a pair of feuding ranchers taking over his property.

Personally I'm against combining 2 books in one but if you do then you should put them in order so they make more sense. Please make the chapters match the chapters in the written book, and distinguish which book is which

    "Kilkenny - two good stories!"

I've enjoyed Louis L'Amour stories for years. One of my favorite characters has always been Kilkenny. I haven't read Louie for quite some time. I'm listening now and it has brought back good memories. I really enjoy his characters and his stories.

    "Good Read"

The stories were both full of action. These two stories are the kind of westerners that I prefer. The author, Louis L'Amour, writing are the type of westerners that are always full of a lot of action. Anyone looking for a exciting story should read this book.

    "Two great stories"
If you could sum up A Man Called Trent in three words, what would they be?

    Good guy wins!

What did you like best about this story?

Good flow. Easy to follow and get "hooked".

    Any additional comments?

2 TRENT stories are included. The first story is really better, but chronologically follows the second. Some elements of the second are useful to follow the first. After I figured that out, I listened to the first one again -- very fun.

Give me water to swim and surf in. That with a glass of white wine and the sun. That's heaven.

    Story
"Louis L'Amour - A hard act to follow"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes due to the fact that from the very first, the characters are introduced and as the story progresses each feeling is described.

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Man Called Trent?

When Trent discovered he was a man of the west with specific values that he would fight for.

Who was the most memorable character of A Man Called Trent and why?

Trent, because he had enough forsight to realize that just being a fast gun wasn't enough. He knew the true gun fighter should stay in the background.

    Story
"Decent story but narration is painful"
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I've been a life long L'amour fan and enjoy the vast majority of his books but the narration of this story make this almost to painful to listen to. The narrator reads this book like there's at least one REALLY exciting thing that happens in every single sentence and it's just awkward to listen to.

How could the performance have been better?

The narrator does not need to use so much inflection in his voice or get so carried away just calm down and let the story play out. It's OK for the reader to have to read between the lines and assign their own emotion to a moment from time to time.

Was A Man Called Trent worth the listening time?

Only if you have listened to all other L'amour books and just have to hear this one.

    Any additional comments?

This is the first negative review I've ever left on a book, I generally just don't take the time and realistically I realize that not every book is "for me". But the narration of this story was so painful I literally I could not listen to another moment of this book without sharing my opinion.
