Publisher's summary

Available for the first time as an audiobook in this original Outlander novella, Diana Gabaldon reveals what really happened to Roger MacKenzie Wakefield’s parents. Orphaned during World War II, Roger believed that his mother died during the London Blitz, and that his father, an RAF pilot, was killed in combat. But in An Echo in the Bone, Roger discovers that this may not be the whole story. Now, in "A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows," readers finally learn the truth.

I miss davina porter

Nice little tie up to the outlander series but I miss davina porter so much that I searched books read by her and purchased one of those.

A Must Read Before MOHB!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would definitely recommend this book to a friend, and have. If you're reading the entire story, it gives you such good information as to what happened to Roger's parents. I'm in the middle of MOHB and am just waiting for some of the scenes from THIS book to happen, but from a different point of view...

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows?

When the sirens start and Jerry heads for the tunnels... you just know what's going to happen and all the pieces sadly fall into place.

What does Robert Ian MacKenzie bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I didn't like his voice at first, but the first time he started with the Scottish accent, I smiled big and sat back. I'm so used to Davina Porter reading this series, but he does a really fantastic job. I can't put my finger on anything specific, but I'd for sure give it a listen.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Oh definitely, especially since it's so short.

Any additional comments?

For sure read this after ECHO and before MOHB. It's less than 2 hours! Do it, I say!

Family Reunions In Print

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend anything Diana wrote at this stage, including her grocery list!
This is just another view into the lives and loves of the people we have grown to known and cherish in this expansive series.

What did you like best about this story?

I do not do spoilers ;)
The small quirks and facts you can learn about family members just enhances the other writings.

What about Robert Ian MacKenzie’s performance did you like?

Nice smooth deep voice with the emotional levels of a man who is involved in the story line.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed, cried, and sighed....

Any additional comments?

I eagerly await more ..................

Nice side story

Sad and happy at the same time. Brought to life a small section of her larger story. Good narration.

Huge let down

Did not care for narrator, maybe if Davina Porter had done it, it would have meant something. Boring and just seemed like it had nothing to do with Outlander series. Wasted money, I prefer thinking it happened the way Outlander explained it. Thought it might bridge the gap while waiting for next book to come out, I was wrong.

Not sure if it was the book or me

If you could sum up A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows in three words, what would they be?

I only listened to part of this book and then I read the rest on my Kindle. While I think the story was fine for an Outlander novella and enjoyed it, the audio quality wasn't that great. I downloaded the book to the app on my phone and it had its issues, there were inconsistencies in the volume, it kept fading in and out. So I finished it on my kindle app and either that was formatted incorrectly or there were some mistakes in the text, whether in the writing or the transcribing, I don't remember them as being characteristic of Gabaldon's writing, but I usually listen and may have missed them.I did enjoy the narrator and overall it was a quick and enjoyable read.

Closure on Roger's Parents

Ugh, the sad back story of Roger's parents. It neatly wraps up that story line, but I do hope the story will be expanded upon in the next book. It was a woefully short story from Ms. Gabaldon haha.

Timing is everything

What made the experience of listening to A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows the most enjoyable?

I loved learning a bit more about Roger's parents and how their lives crossed with the Randalls before Claire's jump.
