WOW

I could not stop listening to this audio book. It tells a story of a Cracker family just like my granddad and grandpa told me when I was a kid.

A Rewarding Listen

I really enjoyed this book. Every aspect of it is top quality. The story is very well developed and the characters are people that you begin to believe you really know personally. I did not know much about Florida history during the period that is covered in the story. I liked learning some new things while caught up in a fascinating saga. At first I thought the narration was going to be a problem but either the narrator improved while reading or I just got used to the voice.

Loved the history of one family,s struggles, then their rise to wealth, which never impressed them, just meant the had money for

It just meant they had money for supplies and more land. The people that were loyal to them, because they respected them. Saddened by their woman, dying before them, and their undying love for family and friends. I grew up in Miami so it was an interesting listen. Oh I would recommends this book of you like history.

Corn-bred Country Cracker

Now I know why Mama laughed when I announced I was a corn bread country cracker at 4 years old. I have imagined the real Florida, this book gave me the imagery I craved and new friends in the characters. I miss them already.

Mesmerizing

Historical fiction is a wonderful way to learn about times and places you haven't experienced. A Land Remembered is one of the best I have ever read. It is constantly moving forward and I became so invested in the characters and story that I lost track of time more than once. When a book is a fantastic read I keep replaying scenes in my head after I have moved on to other books. This one will stay with me for a long, long time. Thoroughly enjoyable and very well written!
