Grace has been best friends with Ella and Flick forever. The late-night chats, shared heartaches, and good times have created a bond that has stood the test of time. When Ella invites them to stay for a week in her cottage in South Wales, Grace jumps at the chance to see her old friends.
She also hopes that the change of scenery will help her reconnect with her distant husband. Then Flick arrives; loveable, bubbly, incorrigible Flick, accompanied by the handsome and charming Noah. This is going to be one week which will change all their lives forever... Join Grace, Ella, and Flick for a week of love, laughter, tears and friendship in A Cottage by the Sea.

Yes it was a great holiday read. Light hearted and enjoyable.
When Flick proposed.
She is excellent.
It was perfectly named
I loved it.
Its an weird thing but my favourite genre to read is murder/mystery books but when it comes to audio books, I love ChicLit! Odd I know!
I really liked this story. I hadnt read a Carole Matthew's book before but gave it a go from the reveiws and they were correct. It was so enjoyable.
3 couples spend a short break in a Cottage by the Sea. Sounds typical but the charaters where written so well and so interesting. I found myself looking forward to the next day when i could resume the story-line.
Sometimes there are just too many names, people, events going on but this story was so easy to listen to and understand. I'll be trying another one of Carole Matthew's books.
I really enjoyed this book. I always like books about the coast and seaside. This was well written and I thoroughly enjoyed all the characters. I was also very well read. I have read others from this author and was not disappointed in this one.
"Fantastic chick lit"
After 4 years of listening to mostly crime fiction I have entered a chick lit phase and I am loving it! I downloaded this as, after some great breaks by the sea this summer I was longing to be by the coast! This novel really did transport me to the Pembrokeshire coast and I became completely drawn into the lives of Grace and her friends. Yes there are lots of chick lit cliches but if you ignore these it's an enjoyable, escapist story. As ever Clare Corbett narrates beautifully but I wasn't convinced by the male characters accents!
When looking for a new book from this author I found this book, from the start I could not put it down until I finished it, lovely easy to read story until the end. I would recommend it to anyone, absolutely fab, note to author please don't stop writing, your books are wonderful value for money that keep you wanting more.
"A lovely holiday read"
Light-hearted, feel-good, amusing
Yes I would recommend this book as something to take on holiday and enjoy by the sea!
If you ever fancy living by the sea, this evocative book will have you reaching for the estate agents number.
"Not just bland chic lit, more intelligent!"
It was an easy listen, but was intelligently written, with well drawn characters.
Great narration, where you lose yourself in the story and don't really register the narration because its spot on.
Towards the end, it seemed it was going to fall into bland cliche, but then it went iff in another direction. Good stuff!
Story a bit predictable. Lovely descriptions of Wales. Loved everything about the book. Only thing I found a little annoying where the long gaps before the next chapter started. Otherwise it's well worth a listen.
"You have to give it a go."
I really enjoy this book. It turned better then I thought. Read brilliantly with the different voice's for each character. I don't normally go for this kind of book! Would like to say something about the ending. But if you don't mind? I won't :) x
"Love love love this!!"
Yes I would, it had a brilliant plot and great characters
I love the sense of friendship but I liked that it highlights how people change & aren't always the same person they were in the past.
She read with enthusiasm and read like she herself was enjoying the book.
I felt for the characters at a lot of points in the book, one revelation will have you feeling furious but terribly sad!
Carole Matthews for me can do no wrong, this is another gem :)
"A pleasant read"
It was just a nice relaxing book to listen to. Lots of different characters in it. Gemma was quite a funny character. The outcome wasn't really what I was expecting, so it wasn't as predictable as I thought it was going to be! Worth a listen but not a mind blowing book!!
I bought this book because I LOVE 'A place to call home' by Carole Matthews, I've listened to it many times and enjoy it every single time. I didn't like this one at all, so not sure if I would buy another by the author.
Of the six characters, there was really only one (maybe two at a stretch) that I could like, the rest seemed totally self centred and thoughtless so from about an hour in I found it difficult to care about what happened to them. I found the 'big secret' unsurprising and predictable.
Real disappointment because I so enjoyed another book by this author.
