Spencer Quinn’s first original audio short story reveals how everyone’s favorite detective duo - Chet the Dog and P.I. Bernie Little - came to meet before their first big case in Dog On It. As fans know, Chet first met Bernie on that fateful day when he flunked out of K-9 police school. The details of that day, though, have always remained a little vague (like so much in Chet’s doggy brain). All we know is that Chet had been the best leaper in his K-9 class, but for some reason he failed his final leaping test...and that a cat was involved...and that there was some blood. But whose?
The test, the cat, the blood - all pieces of a puzzle that, when solved, will bring down a dangerous gang of thieves - and signal the start of a beautiful friendship. This fateful day has been alluded to in every book in the series, and now fans of Chet and Bernie will finally get to find out what actually happened. For these two beloved characters, it was something like love at first sight - and, for Chet, at first smell, too.

Hilarious and touching, Chet the Jet is the story teller. His short term memory problem interferes at times, but he is blithely unaware. The last line is the ultimate declaration of dog love-though completely unsentimental. Anyone else want to form a Chet fan club?
Tell us about yourself!
I can't say much more without spoiling the story... Chet's "dog logic" and Jim Frangione's narration make for another fun listen.
It's great to find out that Chet didn't flunk out of canine school just because " a cat was involved". As usual, he was solving a mystery. The wonderful chemistry between Bernie and Chet is established. But in this story, on the day he meets Chet, Bernie refers to his ex-wife. In all the other books, it's clear that Chet was around in the "Leda Days" and when Charlie was little. So I guess it's just that Chet's memory is a little confused. Maybe his first experience of Slim Jims crowded out everything else!
.........learning how Chet and Burney met and became partners
...........when Chet could not complete his K-9 training for police school because a cat distracted him
They are all great. Let him do them all.
Chet's K9 Kaper
I always wonder what happened before the story started. Now I know. Keep 'em coming, Spencer.
A stolen yellow Audi with pink leather seats plays an integral part in Chets' first meeting with Bernie. It's only an hour long, but you get all the Chet and Bernie nuances. Pretty doggone good.
This short story lets us know how Chet managed to "fail" his jump test, and how he came to be with Bernie. Another great Chet and Bernie story!
I love Chet and Bernie and the story was good but at the end I really felt like really that's it. Please mr Quinn give me more!!!
