Publisher's summary

A worldwide sensation with more than 12 million copies in print, Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series has produced #1 best-selling novels and earned a fiercely devoted fan base. Another spellbinding entry in the series, A Breath of Snow and Ashes continues the saga of 18th-century Scotsman Jamie Fraser and his 20th-century, time-traveling wife, Claire. The year is 1772, and the rift between Britain and its American colonies has put a frightening word into the minds of all concerned: revolution. In the backwoods of North Carolina, violence has already reared its ugly head, as cabins have been burned to the ground. To preserve the colony for King George III, the governor pleads with Jamie to bring the people together and restore peace. But Jamie has the privilege, although some might call it a burden, of knowing that war cannot be avoided. Claire has told him that the colonies will unite and rebel, and the result will be independence, with all British loyalists either dead or exiled. And there is an additional problem. Claire has discovered a newspaper clipping from 1776 that tells of Jamie’s death. With its epic scope, historical details, and sweeping romance, A Breath of Snow and Ashes is everything Gabaldon’s fans love and more.

My only issue is..

I hate the way the narrator says sassanac.. sounds like sassanaccccc. like they're clearing their throat and the Scottish accent is a rough sounding

Does not disappoint

Fans of the Outlander series may not be thrilled with the 1500-page length, but the story delivers on every level.

Classic Gabaldon

Would you consider the audio edition of A Breath of Snow and Ashes to be better than the print version?

No

Who was your favorite character and why?

Gabaldon has too many well developed characters to have a favorite

Have you listened to any of Davina Porter’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Davina Porter's performances are excellent. Keeping up with all of the characters in Gabaldon's stories is a real accomplishment.

Any additional comments?

Having read all of the Outlander series over the years I am using the Audible versions to make long hours driving in the car more enjoyable.

Gripping. A deepening of family and sagas.

Any additional comments?

If you read to escape to far away places, I recommend you continue through all of the Outlander novels. There is a strong sense being and living through the times the author is writing about. Done with a touch of humor and a punch of reality. And then you step off the cliffs into the realm of possibility, with a slight amount of faith that all things are possible. After all, there really are standing stones, God's of all beliefs. Why not? ...... Pass through and see where you end up!
