Publisher's summary

A worldwide sensation with more than 12 million copies in print, Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series has produced #1 best-selling novels and earned a fiercely devoted fan base. Another spellbinding entry in the series, A Breath of Snow and Ashes continues the saga of 18th-century Scotsman Jamie Fraser and his 20th-century, time-traveling wife, Claire. The year is 1772, and the rift between Britain and its American colonies has put a frightening word into the minds of all concerned: revolution. In the backwoods of North Carolina, violence has already reared its ugly head, as cabins have been burned to the ground. To preserve the colony for King George III, the governor pleads with Jamie to bring the people together and restore peace. But Jamie has the privilege, although some might call it a burden, of knowing that war cannot be avoided. Claire has told him that the colonies will unite and rebel, and the result will be independence, with all British loyalists either dead or exiled. And there is an additional problem. Claire has discovered a newspaper clipping from 1776 that tells of Jamie’s death. With its epic scope, historical details, and sweeping romance, A Breath of Snow and Ashes is everything Gabaldon’s fans love and more.

Fantastic addition to the Outlander series!

Another fantastic book in the amazing Outlander series!! Personally I wasn't thrilled with the book broken up into separate downloads but that didn't take away from the great book!!!

I'm addicted to the Outlander Series!

Would you consider the audio edition of A Breath of Snow and Ashes to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version but I'm in love with both Diana Gabaldon and Davina Porter. I almost couldn't imagine reading it after having heard Davina Porter read the book with her exquisite characters and impeccable accents! What will I do after I finish listening to the last in the series?

Captivating story, beautiful writing, eloquent narration

If you've liked the earlier stories in the series, this one won't disappoint. I laughed and cried, became angry and felt blessed, Just as if the story was about my own people. Living in the Piedmont of North Carolina myself, I've particularly enjoyed the history. If you're looking for efficiency of words, then this isn't a book for you, but lovers of good story-telling in lush detail will fall head-first.

Davina Porter takes Gabaldon's magical story and threads with with depth and conviction! The audio book, brings out glimpses of the story that I missed in the print version, and amplfies all the touching scenes in both this book and the entire series.

Favorite of the series to date

I really enjoyed this book more than any in the series so far. It was action packed, yet poignant and heartbreaking at times in the quietest of moments. I cannot wait to get started on An Echo in the bone tonight. This series makes my 450 plus miles a week commute something to look forward to. 😎❤️
