Publisher's summary

In an instant the word pain was redefined....

August Taylor thought she could manage the weight of the world on her shoulders. Forcing a smile, she hid the secrets of the man she loved and pretended everything was okay. Until she found him unconscious, having chosen his addiction over her...one last, fatal time.

Unable to understand the sickness that consumed him, grief rivets through August’s body. As she spirals into self-destructive behavior, she finds her life mirroring what she despises.

Chance Miller wants to make a difference. After witnessing the death of his parents at a young age, he longs to help others as he was helped. He thought that path was leading him to adopt a child, but he’s not sure his heart can take another rejection.

Then, he saw August. From a distance Chance watched the sweet woman transition into a shadow of her former self. Now, despite her resistance, he feels compelled to step in and pull her back from the precipice of pain and darkness.

Can August and Chance find a way to help each other put their lives back together? Or are the scattered pieces of their broken hearts shattered beyond repair?

Shari Ryan sure does know how to write a book with depth. Her stories grab your heart. Fall to Pieces was amazing. What August endured was a lot! Then she got her second Chance! The were amazing for each other. This story had the tears flowing! oh my heart. The narrator was perfect! 5 amazing stars from me!

Beautifully written story with excellent narration

This was a wonderfully written book about addiction, grief and finding your way forward. I really loved how well the author describes what it is like to live with a person who has an addiction and the toll it can take on a person. The heroine, August, is a strong person who has been left to pick up the pieces after coming home to a terrible surprise. I love that the author did not shy away from August's troubles and allowed us to see the messy journey she took in the aftermath of this surprise. Chance, was a loveable friend who stole my heart with his care and affection for August. I enjoyed that neither August or Chance were cookie cutter perfect people, but each had their own issues that they were trying to atone for making the book relatable.

The narration was excellent. Ms. Rose-Mock did a wonderful job bringing this story to life. Her use of accents transported me back home to my Texas roots and were quite believable. The pacing of the book and the narration were great and I look forward to reading more books by Shari Ryan and narrations my Naomi Rose-Mock.
