Publisher's summary

When a stalker ratchets up his attempts to get to her, cable sex-talk-show host Morgan O'Malley turns to Jack Cole - a self-proclaimed dominant - for help. Though Jack is a bodyguard, Morgan feels anything but safe in his presence. Because slowly and seductively, Jack is bringing her deepest fantasies to the surface. And when he bends her to his will, what's more shocking than her surrender is how much she enjoys it and how she starts to crave his masterful touch. A willing player in Jack's games, Morgan knows that his motives aren't pure. But she has no idea how personal they are.

worth the credit!

i suppose you could say i'm on an erotica kick right now, having finished Fifty Shades and wanting more, i turned to Bared to You, but even that wasn't enough. so i did a little searching online and Wicked Ties was the next recommendation.

my oh my! what a fun read. and yes people, it's not exactly the most plausible storyline out there, but in terms of a fun escape, this did it for me. it was fun how the two ended up completely alone, having only each other to explore. loved every minute of it, and have listened to it twice.

it was wonderfully sweet moments, and it made me giggle in a few places too. the narration is terrific. so i gave it five stars. definitely worth the credit.

I love a man with a potty mouth.......

This book is amazingly hot....and naughty....and hot....and well read...and hot....and suspensful...and hot. Did I mention it was hot? Not like jalepeno pepper hot.....like Vindaloo curry hot.

There is an art to talking dirty...and Jack Cole has it down to a science.....

God I hate this crap

A. This book reads like a training manual for the “Red Pill” mouth breathers who believe that all women are secretly dying to submit if just the right caveman will show up.
B. Morgan is a gullible idiot who thinks with her clit, thereby reinforcing the fantasy of a women as putty in the hands of an Alpha Male.
C. Jack Cole is a lying manipulative bastard who doesn’t care what emotional damage he inflicts on an innocent bystander so he can get revenge on the guy who had the temerity to dent his ego.
Seriously. Shayla Black has got to be a man taking his shot at Sh*tting all over women.
Submission is a gift. It is properly given to a partner who has the compassion and empathy necessary to understand the deep needs of the submissive. The dynamic only works if both parties have a deep respect for each other. (Talking about real D/s here, not the Top/bottom just looking to get off scenario)
This book insults both Doms/Dommes and subs. It also insult our intelligence.

All that said, I liked the narrator very much.

Ok... A bit of an eye roller

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

No. The story line was good but it was a little sappy and it seemed like the emotions were a little extreme. Also it was like shayla black was trying to describe and defend the a Dom/sub relationship. That got on my nerves. She kept repeating herself that it wasn't wrong or unhealthy. Yea I got that the first 10 times. I know the character was a reluctant sub but still....I want to read about the relationship not have the psychological factors explained over and over.

Would you be willing to try another book from Shayla Black? Why or why not?

Yes I've read other stuff of hers that I like but I won't be continuing this series.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene was at the bed and breakfast when the main character gets taken by both men and has the final showdown with her stalker.

Was Wicked Ties worth the listening time?

eh...

Wow! Where's The Batteries Needed Warning?

I was going through Fifty Shades withdrawal, no new books from authors I know I love and cherish, so I was just searching through recommendations on My Listener Page when I read a few reviews for this series. Finding a good erotica book that has a story to it and is well written is hard to do so I was half way expecting to be returning the book.

I must say that I will NOT be returning and in fact have turned around and bought the second book in the series as soon as the first one finished playing! I am hooked and I do hope there are more books in the series coming along.

Being as I came to listen to the book with no real expectations, I can not tell you how pleased I am that I listened to the recommendations of others.... not something that I usually do since most of the books I've come to love get very mixed reviews.

I won't give away anything of the story other than to say that if you are going through Fifty Shades of Withdrawal, this book will heat you up and more than cure any withdrawal symptoms you may be facing! I know it MORE than worked for me!

Listened til it was done

Absolutely loved this book. You get totally wrapped up in these characters, and their inner thoughts, that you can't quit listening. Luckily, I had the time away from work, that I didn't have to give it a break. If you liked "Fifty Shades of Grey", you will like this book. It's full of suspense, mystery, and sexual self exploration. Is well worth the listen.

WOW! I love Shayla Black!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Definitely worth the credit for me. This book has everything I look for in an audiobook and more. I like romance with a touch of hot sex in the mix and this book has that in spades. This audiobook is also long enough to let the reader get to know both main characters and give a believable and interesting storyline along with the hot sex. It's a delicate balancing act, something a lot of books I've listened to have failed to achieve.

Sick

What character would you cut from Wicked Ties?

Jack

Any additional comments?

This book is exactly the reason why I quit reading romance/erotica long time ago.

I could not finish this book. It made me sick to my stomach, not for Jack’s lifestyle but for his mind set. He is exploitative and has no respect for Morgan’s repeated, direct refusals. He justifies everything as he knows what she “really” wants and is “helping” her recognize it. “No” means nothing to him because he only believes what is in his head. Frankly, he has the same mentality as many rapists’. Regardless what she “really” wants inside, it is pretty scary and disgusting when a man does not take it serious and is forceful when a woman repeatedly expresses direct verbal refusals. He even restrained her to get his way when she was unconscious. Relying on a woman’s physical “signs” to judge a woman’s “true” answer is just a way of self-convincing. When I first started reading romance/erotica, I encountered so many similar stories of exploitative dynamics, and I quit reading this kind of books, until sold by the 50 Shades’ marketing and reviews, and then I was interested again.

I do not practice BDSM and am not an expert of that topic, but according to my curious online research, Jack’s exploitative and forceful way is what the BDSM society condemned. His “I am a dom and I know you are a sub (while you don’t think so) so I am entitled to force myself onto you even though you have repeatedly refused sex with me” is not justifiable by the BDSM lifestyle. Someone like Jack would have been given a bad label in the BDSM society and the story of this book could not make any sense. I think what makes the infamous 50 Shades so successful, despite the widely criticized writing skill, is that the relationship between the main characters is full of mutual care and respect, never forceful, (and that is stressed and stressed in the BDSM guidelines) so that even someone who knew very little about BDSM could enjoy the story and even relate to the characters’ internal dialogue.

If I had known that this is another book justifying and romanticizing an exploitative relationship, I would not have considered this book.

Good Story and a lot of HOT!!

Another series to rival Fifty Shades of Grey. If are looking for some more books with the same type of theme this is another good series to try. Right now only the first two books are out on audible but I sent a message to author about the rest of her books and she is in the process of getting the rest of series out on audible. Books 3 and 4 are due out in the next month.

This series is a lot like the Sweet series by Maya Banks. You really fall in love with all the guys of the series. In a future book all the couples come back together. I am really looking forward for more of the books in this series.

Again these books are graphic so if you are not looking for this kind of read don't get the books. I hate to see a bad review just because people did not read the reviews and when they fuss about the sex scenes. I mean come on it is not fair to give a bad review if you did not read the reviews first to find out what you are reading is not for you in the first place.

This is supposed to be HOT????

This was my first try at a BDSM/Erotica book and the reviews said it was HOT! ALL the reviews! So I figured it couldn't miss. But what a dissappointment!

Seems like all the supposed HOT was in the "yes sir" and "I'm going to tie you up" dialogue. The sex itselft passed so quickly I actually slept thru the first one. So I replayed to see what I'd missed and realized I hadn't missed much at all. I finally got too bored to even finish it.

The story was slow, the guy (strong, silent type) was into playing his silly game and the poor girl was just so young and horney she was willing to put up with his nonsense. I kept wondering how long it would have taken the guy to say "ok" if she had just said I'm not doing all the stupid stuff and if you want me then you need to get over your silly dominance sh*t. I wouldn't have put up with it for 5 minutes and only that long because I would have been laughing in his face for at least three minutes first. Ideally the older you get the less intrigued you are by silly, egotistical men - at least I know I haven't had any patience for that type in years.

My victorian romance and vampire books are SO MUCH HOTTER AND SEXIER!! Hey the Twilight Books had hotter sex scenes. I'm really hoping the other 2 titles I bought aren't as tame and boring. Sorry to say this will be the first book that I take advantage or the return policy with.
