An essential read for those into BDSM

What did you like best about this story?

This is one of the best BDSM novels available. Laura Antoniou captures the lifestyle very accurately and taps into your dreams. It's easy to get lost in this story and really feel what the characters feel.

Which character – as performed by Elizabeth Jasicki – was your favorite?

I really enjoyed her performance as Chris.

Any additional comments?

When will the rest of the series be coming to audible?

Fantastic, amusing, hot, sexy and enthralling.

Would you listen to The Marketplace again? Why?

I would listen to The Marketplace many times over. I found it captivating and just what I have been looking for.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Marketplace?

There are so many. The whole book is memorable. Sharrons auction was so well deserved and had me laughing out loud.

Have you listened to any of Elizabeth Jasicki’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I'm new to audiobooks but I feel like the narrator did a great job. Not a boring monotone like some of the other books I've listened to. I quite enjoyed the sound of her voice and the different accents and tones she used for the various characters.

Any additional comments?

An amazing book. I can't wait for audible to have the next books in the series done. The series is deffiinatly one I want in both paper and audio.

I would give it a 5 but....

It is really hard to give a story so explicit and so inhumane a 5, but if you enjoy listening to the training of sex slaves it is a 5. I felt guilty for enjoying this story. The character's stories are interesting, the ending a bit vague and the narration wonderful. The final 2 hours is an epilogue of sorts and really heinous...pure S&M. Not for innocent ears!

Great book

I find this better then the sleeping beauty series. It has a great story line and perfect detail. Let's just hope the fifty shades people leave this one alone ;-)

BDSM Erotica at it's finest.

The Marketplace world is fantastically rich and deep. The reader has a lovely, polished British accent that is sweetly soothing.

Interesting Story - So So Erotica

I bought this book because of the ratings and was a bit dissapointed with the book.
This book is about four people who want to be trained to be sold in "The Marketplace"
Obviously a fantasy, but...could be kind of a hot idea! The problem, I guess, was that this book tries to be very realistic while delving into a realm that is pure sexual fantasy, and I'm not sure it could make up it's mind which one it was. It was interesting enough as a story, and I liked it enough to continue. But as erotica and as a sexual fantasy, I felt like it lacked heat. So, this one was really just so-so for me. There so many scenes that were just skimmed over. If there were half stars, I would give it 3.5; because the sex part was what was sub-par for me, and also was what I bought it for--I rounded down.
The narrator did an excellent job delivering the story

Saddle Up Beauties—And Bring a Crop

Back in the 90s— a time when S/M was still "too hot too handle in the downtown bookstore"— Laura Antoniou's The Marketplace was THE Story of O for the smart-girl BDSM set.

Don't even try to compare it to 50 Shades of Blah-- this is the real thing, both writing-wise and sexwise. A pony-girl classic!

Marketplace stands out for its characters’ depth and believability— and its feminist approach to sexual submission. (Isn’t it so much better that way?)

You'll follow the trials of four ambitious "slaves" as they undergo training in order to be accepted into the secret underground society of masters and slaves (and ponies).

Audiobook narrated by the drool-worthy British voice of Elizabeth Jasicki.

Be Careful What You Wish For

I liked the book. It was a different from what I’m used to. Not a love story at all more of an be careful for what you wish for book. The story has some interesting people from odd walks of life. But to hear how they over come there problems to become a better slave is great. There is no topping from the bottom here. This is what I feel a Marketplace to be like. Please put the other books up I would love to hear the next few stories.

LONG.........

Would you try another book from Laura Antoniou and/or Elizabeth Jasicki?

Probably not...it took a long time to get to the story and once I started it was too confusing and drawn out for me.

LOVED IT!

Would you listen to The Marketplace again? Why?

The Marketplace is such an amazing story to begin with and the Audible version of it made it even more so. I have read the book multiple times and listened to the audio book twice already. I will listen to it again and look forward to other Laura Antoniou books on Audible.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Chris Parker, of course, he is such a complex character and has yet to fully reveal himself to the readers.

What does Elizabeth Jasicki bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The accent Elizabeth used when reading the book enhanced it and made it very pleasurable to listen to. Her different character voices helped to give each character even more of an identity. I hope she is chosen to read any other Marketplace books Audible chooses to record.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES!!!!!!

Any additional comments?

Laura Antoniou is one of my favorite authors and I have never been disappointed by her works. I truly hope that Audible continues to record her books (like they did THE KILLER WORE LEATHER - my next purchase).
