Better than I expected.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the narrator's voice. I even had dreams I was listening to the story while sleeping, but I wasn't. :)

Not my cuppa

Looking for some fresh inspiration, but found that I wasn't stirred. I'm sure the author is just pacing herself, setting a foundation of characters and structure for future story lines. I would have enjoyed more of a tease.

Twisted, Bazaar, and always something different.

What made the experience of listening to The Marketplace the most enjoyable?

I was always expecting one thing and got hit with something enjoyably different.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Chris, I can't put a finger on it. I loved his character.

Which scene was your favorite?

When the meek girl was reunited with her mistriss. She was so happy. Sorry cant remember her name.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

None to mention. I did feel it was quite cruel.

Great story but...

The vocal performance drove me crazy!!

Jasicki has a lovely voice and could be fantastic to listen to for the correct novel. However, this book is set in New York and she has a strong British accent that she uses for nearly every character.

I enjoyed the story and the performance was ok, but it would have been SO much better if the characters actually had the speech patterns and dialects that the author clearly describes.

This is especially true for one character who is supposed to have a strong Brooklyn accent which Jasicki interprets as a thick, obnoxious cockney accent.

To make things even stranger, when a character was introduced briefly from The South, Jasicki dropped her British accent completely and did a pretty great drawl... This left me super confused as to why this one minuscule character received the proper dialect and everyone else was so far off from their proper intonation?

Perhaps I'm more sensitive to this as I'm from New York? I don't know, but someone should totally re-record and release this audiobook with a narrator actually from New York or the surrounding area.

For the time being, if you're from The States I recommend reading instead of listening to this book!

Phenomenal BDSM representation

I have read a small degree of very disappointing Kink based erotica and the only other book that I read that was honest to BDSM in all of its forms, variety, protocols, language and its sort of organic nature for the individuals involved in the community was The Story of O and this book. I can honestly say that this blew me away. There was nuance, very in-depth and interesting characters, solid story structure, vivid and creative descriptions, and such purpose was put into every single word in a way that I can't quite describe. The narrator was amazing. The way she captured character voices, tone, the complexities of some of the things written, as well as her pacing were all well-executed and it certainly enhanced the experience of hearing this story told. I feel like I learned more not only as a kinkster, but also as a writer. I very much enjoyed and appreciated this and look forward to reading more of the series.

this book is not one for you if you are looking for sensuality. it focuses more on the S&M of the BDSM lifestyle.
