Publisher's summary

Passion knows no status or wealth....

"True, I am but a mere maidservant from a great house, snatched from a wretched existence of poverty and desperation to serve noblemen of wealth and privilege.

"And yet....

"While I am indeed of lowly rank, I am also a young woman who allowed herself to sample life's greatest pleasures in the hands of these titled men. My tales overflow in this journal, penning my journey to becoming a woman of power of the most base, yet stimulating, breed.

"Unmarried and 20, yet betrothed to no man, I would be considered a spinster by most, yet this is of my own ardent intention. With my unabashed lushness and wisdom regarding a man's most vehement cravings, I am not lacking for suitors or proposals given in the heat of passion. No, I have yet to meet the man who will challenge me, satisfy me in all ways, not only of the flesh.

"For where passion and desire are fleeting, my heart continues to beat...."

Amazing!

I was really surprised at the depth of feeling, humor, and steaminess of this book. I read a lot of classic fiction and there were parts of this book that so reminded me of my favorites, Jane Eyre (the beginning) and Pride & Prejudice (relationship between the heroine & Mr Coven), etc. Only you get the benefit of seeing what may or may not have happened behind closed doors if the authors had been born in a time when you could be so bold as to describe it. It was sad and romantic and I laughed outloud a few times. It's a diary so there isn't always continuity but that is part of the charm. The narrator isnt dull. She does a great job with the diff voices and accents and gets really involved and enthusiastic during the love scenes. I was worried to buy this because of some of the reviews on audible but saw great reviews at Amazon. This was well worth it. It had a great ending and it will touch the romantic in you.

Anais Nin would be proud. NC-17 for sure.

I had reservations about buying this novel. Ashford Mcnab is a favorite narrator of mine. She was the reason I gave this book a fighting chance. And I'm so glad I did. It turned out to be a rare treat. But buyer beware:
The Diary of Cozette isn't a sweet diary of a girl in love, although Cozette does have a first love. Instead, this is the diary of a girl surviving her circumstances, growing into womanhood, and shirking the restraints put upon women of that time.

Let me be plain: this is a novel that includes sexual experiences both good and bad. It is not pornography by any stretch of the imagination. However, it is gritty and I blushed through much of the story. Sensitive readers please don't purchase this.

The story of Cozette is captivating, and I was quite taken with the novel. Rarely have I "read" an author with such fine skills for maintaining the dignity, charm and integrity of her story while walking the line of the erotic. There was a rare honesty in this story that few novels of any genre have. Without the obvious plot devices and expected structure, I was swept into this story as though Cozette was in fact a real woman. I believe that this is not for everyone. It will offend some readers. This isn't a sweet tale that allows for the escape of reality and tidy happily ever after. But it is a thought-provoking journey, both good and bad, of a very interesting woman.

Naughty and Utterly Charming

Unlike most typical "romance" stories, this book-The Diary of Cozette-is utterly charming. While the unbridled sexual scenes left me blushing, the author's writing style is so good, so 19th-century like, that I felt like I was listening to Dickens or Austen sometimes. The story-itself is quite good and made even better by the narrator - Ashford McNab.

Highly Recommended

This book is by far one of the best. I am so happy I took the chance with this author. If I could I would award this book 10 stars for romance, compassion, and detailed steamy pleasure scenes. The plot was simply amazing. Amanda McIntyre is now on my list for favorite authors. I highly recommend it to all.

Passion for living, a classy & sensual heroine

This heroine is her own person with an individualistic point of view. Well written steamy material with a plot and sub-plot that fit together well. A stellar female voice performance that suits the story beatuifully. A completely female point of view to her passionate sensuality and love. Easy to like main character with real vulnerabilties and strengths she is the hero in her own life. I will want more from this classy writer and the charming voice of the reader.

Well Written and Fantastic Narrator

I am not one to leave reviews, but I was extremely pleased with this purchase. The narrator was wonderful, and I found the story fun, with plenty of relatively believable sex, unlike a lot of other Romance novels. The story itself was believable, which is saying something for historical Romance novels these days.
