This isn't erotica. It's Horror.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The genre. This was presented as a BDSM erotica novel and it isn't. Yes there are rape fantasy stories in BDSM (especially comics) but this isn't one of those. This is a horror novel. The story of a woman living through a nightmare with nothing sexually interesting about it.

Was Slave Island worth the listening time?

This was worth listening to. The narrator was great but you need to go in knowing what type of book this really is. Don't go in expecting literary porn.

I like BDSM stories, but I just couldn’t get into this one. It was just sitting back watching a newsreel, there was nothing to suck me into the characters. Other’s found the book enjoyable, so maybe it’s just me.

Really good fiction.

I thought this is a story about never letting go of what really matters as being and staying a human. Juliana had fought so well. I liked the very last of the story very very much.

Not a romance but fabulously dark!

STORY
Julliana, now known as “slave #38”, has the unfortunate luck of being trafficked and forced into sex slavery. This is not a romance, just the story of her horrific experience.

Historically, I have found that the darkest of the dark books were only available in e-book format, so I didn’t have exceedingly high hopes for this one in regards to it being truly DARK. I am pleased to say that I was very wrong! This is typical Claire Thompson: disturbing and depraved!!!

Although I don’t know that there’s truly a way for a man to know for certain whether a woman is an anal virgin or not, everything else about the story was written in a realistic, believable way. Not only did this book remind me that Claire Thompson isn’t afraid to cross boundaries, but it wasn’t predictable like the majority of sex slave stories <spoiler> where the female main character falls in love with *SPOILER IN THE REST OF THIS SENTENCE* one of the bad guys! I’m always happy to read something DIFFERENT in a trafficking/sex slavery story!

PERFORMANCE
I listened to the audiobook narrated byCressida Wolf. Ms. Wolf has an extremely unique voice that is very husky and gravelly. Although some of her masculine voices sounded creepy, it worked well when she spoke as some of the creepy male characters. Unfortunately, she occasionally spoken choppy, broken sentences and she mispronounced many words including SALON, GOATEE, TRACHEA & TISSUE just to name a few.

A MUST READ

It had my attention from the start and even though I am a person who is easily distracted from something I wasn't distracted at all. Definitely is a book I'd read again!!!

The narrator's voice was too raspy for my taste, but tolerable. Sick, but so am I.

enjoyed the story, even became hard a couple of times. Lady reading the book seems to have something in her throat that she needed to clear out but she did good. wish it were abit darker, and longer of a book. main character was good.
