Publisher's summary

In S.E.C.R.E.T. there are…

No judgments. No limits. No shame.

Cassie Robichaud’s life has been filled with regret and loneliness since the death of her husband. She waits tables at the rundown Café Rose in New Orleans, and every night she heads home to her solitary one-bedroom apartment. But when she discovers a notebook left behind by a mysterious woman at the café, Cassie’s world is forever changed. The notebook’s stunningly explicit confessions shock and fascinate Cassie, and eventually lead her to S.E.C.R.E.T., an underground society dedicated to helping women realize their wildest, most intimate sexual fantasies. Cassie soon immerses herself in an electrifying journey through a series of 10 rapturous fantasies with gorgeous men who awaken and satisfy her like never before. As she is set free from her inhibitions, she discovers a new confidence that transforms her, giving her the courage to live passionately.

Equal parts enticing, liberating, and emotionally powerful, S.E.C.R.E.T. is a world where fantasy becomes reality.

Not bad - I'm considering reading the sequel

The story was decently written, and the premise original enough that it kept me reading until the end. I don't really understand the heroine's attachment to Will, but different strokes . . . did you see what I did there? ;-)

opening up minds and thoughts

a great tool to get women to stop and think about accepting themselves and asking for what they want and knowing that they should be able to do these things and not feel ashamed for doing so.

Empowerment through Meaningless Sex

Very interesting concept - women helping other women to become powerful. I enjoyed listening as Cassie (main character) grew more confident and built friendships with new friends and co-workers. However, I found the method - experiencing sexual fantasies with strangers - to be a cold & contrived path to personal growth. Not my cup of tea...

What erotic romance should be

Shocking as it was, this book never billed abuse or assault as romance, unlike the vast majority of erotic romance novels. It was unique, sexy, and beautiful. I will read everything this author has written.

Interesting fantasy!

This book is about women who are lacking in self-confidence especially where their sexuality is concerned, and how, through the exclusive S.E.C.R.E.T. organization, they have the ability to pick 9 sexual fantasies and live them out to learn the lessons that will help them realize their full potential as women, and more importantly, as human beings.
Quite a trip. Tastefully done.

Tasteful introduction of the secret club

Any additional comments?

A solid concept, with tasteful scenes in comparison to FSoG. The lack of confidence is a little staggering and some characters are predictable although the ending was surprising. I would have like a bit more vibrance in the New Orleans setting. I enjoyed the book nonetheless. I will read "Book 2" as the assumption of the first title eludes.

RIP MY HEART OUT !!!

What did you love best about SECRET?

The entire story was amazing, especially the whole premise of S.E.C.R.E.T.

What about Jane Thoma’s performance did you like?

I thought she did a really good job with all voices and inflections.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Oh my gosh yes! I had my heart ripped out and cried like a baby, then immediately went to L. Marie Adeline's website to see if there was a sequel; to my great relief there is even though not knowing what the outcome of the next book is, it gives me hope.

There were, of course, other feelings during the story but those I'll keep to myself.

Any additional comments?

This was an emotional ride, but I loved it. I am one for happy endings so I held on with bated breath.
