Outstanding Book for "Mature" Audiences Only

I loved this book. It gave a matter of fact explanation about all aspects of a topic that is so private and personal for so many in our age group. We never talked about sex growing up. It was always a taboo topic. Yet we needed to have more open dialogue about what to expect as we age. I really enjoyed the comments from experts and the real life stories of people grappling with the same challenges. It made me feel like I'm not alone. Every aspect of love and lost love was fully covered. Thanks for a terrific, eye opening experience! I feel well informed and better able to deal with the challenges of life.

My wife and myself listen to this book to together and apart from one another and we found it helpful in our marriage.

What did you like best about this story?

This book is not a story but the advise that Joan Price gave that I found the most helpful was to be willing to go to the sex toys shop and get a pump for myself.

Suzanne Toren is an excellent reader and speaker.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

My wife like the part about lubricants the most enjoyable and helpful to her and I found the part about E.D. the most helpful to me.

I loved it the most informative book I have ever read. will recommend it.

Informative

I feel this book was written mostly for women in their fifties. I read with interest the few times 70 year olds were mentioned. Maybe it's because at this stage of the game men want us to continue swinging from the chandelier . Actually I was looking forward to this time of my life free from expectations. This book busted my balloon . I seriously wonder how accurate the studies and statistics are. The constant mention of going to see a sex therapist was annoying. Not everyone can afford that remedy.

Joan is so forthright, so real about what it feels like to have a mature mind and body, while part of you may always feel like seven...she just gets it.

We all know the hard parts: Loneliness, loss, physical challenges—and yet, our libido and fire remain, along with our need for connection and intimate creativity. I think she tells it like it is!

If you're aging and wondering about your sex life—or you have a friend or parent who you see looking for some answers (or at least the right questions!)—I can't recommend Joan enough.

Narrator, Suzanne Torren has a voice like honey, and a knowing way with her phrasing. I buy whatever she's selling.

Too much information?

I'm not sure what to say about this book. I was hoping for straightforward information about successful strategies for coping with an aging body and mind that don't always agree about sex. And indeed, there is some helpful information. But there are also a lot of personal reminiscences, read in a fairly plummy tone, that at times seem like too much information about our author's sex life. I feel like I'm reading Ladies Home Journal.
