Dr. Joyce Yards has never met anyone as sexy or as irresistible as 466. He refuses to discuss anything except getting her naked beneath him. Their therapy sessions are growing hotter, his raw hunger for her is becoming aggressive, and she is falling for him. Joy knows the dire consequences if she gives in to desire. It will break her heart but she must walk away.
Moon has been drugged. He is feral and dangerous to everyone. The NSO doctors turn to the only female Moon ever cared about - the one who left him in the desert two years ago.
Moon isn’t the same male Joy once knew but she is willing to put her life on the line for him. There are no rules now. If sex tames the wild beast and triggers his fractured memories, allowing him moments of lucidity, then Joy will give him her body and her soul. She’ll do whatever it takes to save him.

I've loved every new species book since I heard the first one, but that came to a screeching halt with Moon. What a snoozefest! I was totally shocked. It's a given that all the New Species books have the same concept more or less, but Dohner has been really good about finding different angles to tell the same story. There's always humor, hot sex, etc. but this time around not only was there minimal humor, but the story in and of itself was just missing something. It seemed like a short story that was stretched to eight hours by adding random filler that should've been edited out. All that said, I do love this series and I will definitely buy the next book and many more from Laurann Dohner. She's a great erotic romance writer and the narrators of her series have been good. Despite my lukewarm review of Moon, this is definitely a series I'd recommend for the weekend listener looking for an interesting take on semi-paranormal erotic romance.
I really enjoy the world of books! Narration just add layers to that world... don't u think? :)
Moon.... Ah... Moon!
I remember he was such a sweetie from the other books... and no he is not 247...the book we are all waiting for....I though his best bud was someone else...not Harley... but whatever...
This book was great... quite similar to the other New Species books... but thank goodness no anti-NS people from the outside tried to kill Moon's Mate this time... just her own client!
It was a good progressing drama, with some hot smexing...
I still don't like Trisha... in any book... she is just a twat!
Totally worth a buy, credit or sale if you have invested in the other books...
Narration was great...
Although this book is rated highly by many fans, I was left "wanting"--really! There was very little erotica and Moon just did not do it for me as an alpha. I have been reading the Breeds series by Lora Leigh, and this just feels like a knockoff of that world. I am not discounting the author, I would just like to read something else by her and see if that clicks.
Now you're talking! Back to the basic New Species theme! I love it. This was a good one.
The narrator is the reason that I have purchased every audio book in this series. The story is good but the narrator Vanessa Chambers makes this book a thousand times better!!! A narrator can totally kill a book and this is an example where the narrator just makes this book AMAZING!!! Great Job
If you are a fan of this series. Moon is another great addition to the series. Can't wait for True to be released on audio.
My love for New Species started way back in book One Fury and a body would think that by book 10 my love would have waned. That is SO NOT the case!
Ms Dohner is still keeping things fresh and interesting. Granted this book is not like the other books in the series because of the flashbacks but if you are fascinated by all things NSO then it is an interesting look into what happened AFTER they'd been freed from Mercile.
I CAN'T WAIT for book 11 True!!!
YES, but would recommend the friend begin at the beginning with Book 1.
I think I had too high of expectations for Moon, especially as the other books were so very tremendous. This one lacked the drama, romance and sensuality that the other books were so full of… also, this was placed in the erotic section in Coming Soon browser. I think I missed it somewhere.
I think she gets better and better with each book and she has a real knack for keeping the voices consistent so that, for instance, Smiley's voices sounds the same throughout all of the books, as well as Tiger's, Moon's, etc. I always like hearing a good narrator rather than the one that talks in my head when I am reading. Good job VC.
Absolutely, albeit somewhat disappointing.
Hope we don't have to wait too long for Harley, Flame, etc. and I hope they're on the same caliber as the first 8 books. This one felt rushed even though it seemed like forever that we, New Species fans, had to wait to listen to it.
Hot romance/Sci Fi we're so lucky to have Audible to feed our book addictions. I love walking my precious dog Sydney & listening to my books
I have read all the books from this series and this is the first one the main characters have had sort of a relation/interaction before the main story begun. Moon is about Dr. Joyce Yards a therapist that was on a highly confidential mission to help the new species when they are just rescued. She is assigned to the very irresistible 466. 466 also later called Moon is a sexy canine/human who makes it hard for the doctor to keep their relationship professional. Their therapy sessions are growing hotter and hotter with each session till it breaks her up and Joy decides to leave before they can see where their relation can lead.
There is where the real story begins. Joy gets a phone call that Moon has been drugged, by an unknown drugs. his memory shattered. Now he’s feral and a dangerous threat to everyone. They ask Joy to help and of course she can’t resist..... Joy has always regretted leaving her old job as she had fallen so hard for Moon, she would of lost everything back then if she had acted on her feelings so had to leave.... There are no rules now. She is not his therapist anymore. Sex seems to tame the wild beast in Moon and triggers old memories to help him find his old self. The only thing she can do is help him and she is willing to try anything. Anything!
This is another fabulous Hot, Sexy and emotional installment to the New Species series. I enjoyed this book as much as the rest and felt so so sorry for Moon as he was always the happy go lucky and more settled of the New Species. I hope Laurann keeps these books coming, I'm ready for the next book NOW lol. :)
The plot killed it for me. She is a therapist who is using sex to make a feral New Species sane again. It just reads like the plot to a bad porno. I like the others in the series well enough, some hits and misses, and I wish I hadn't wasted my money on this one. I should have read it first, but, oh well. This could have been so much better by introducing a subplot, making the sex therapy a smaller portion of the story, and I got so sick of her explaining why she had quite her job! We get it. You are a perfect angel wronged by the world. Where have I seen this before? Oh, right, in every other story Laurann Dohner writes. It is okay for a heroine to be imperfect (and I do not mean solely in appearance; we get it, you believe curvy women have sex appeal and skinny women do not), and she can be less the innocent sex goddess with indisputable morals.
Yes. I did take this author off of my auto buy list. Too many repeated plots with forulaic conflict (woman is a saint and saves New Species, he will be angsty, fight against attraction, some bigoted idiot with the personality of cardboard will kidnap the heroine, threaten rape, but get stopped by the hero before anything happens). The heroine will supposedly be friendly, but have no friends or family depending on them. The female species introduced will be awkwardly straightforward and like the human female based off of a 2-minute conversation.
Her voices are very poorly-done. Ranging from sounding like a mouth stuffed with a napkin to grating valley girl, there is little to redeem her.
Stupid misogynist and prejudiced moron that is an active part of the New Species life will be proven in a Scooby style to be the evil that no one say coming!
Don't buy it. Very little redeeming the story. Instead of wasting 10 hours of your life listening to this, hit your head repeatedly against the wall. You will find more of a plot doing that than here. If you have read one New Species book, you have read most of them. I can recommend Slade, Brawn, and Valiant (narration is particularly bad in that one, but the story is quite good) in the series that are good. Fury wasn't bad, but I had some serious concerns with her book having one too many similarities to the Breed series by Lora Leigh...same names and everything, so it makes me really uncomfortable...
I've read them all, but I'm bored with the recycled story with new names. The only fresh air was that Moon was out on his own and his interaction with the outside world. Can't we get the female's stories?
I no longer read print due to eyesight problems but really enjoy listening to these books
Vanessa narrates a few books I have listened too and she is very easy to listen to. Inflection and tone change according to what the characters are saying or thinking
This series is well worth listening to, the author and publisher assure me more of them are on the way, I await the release eagerly.
a TRUE story with a nice difference to other books with a similar 'theme'. The books are not just erotica with a few things filling in the spaces. The books would be worth listening to without the erotic elements in lots of instances
