Publisher's summary

Imagine you could give an essay entitled "How to Make Me Come" to a past, present or future sex partner, free of judgment or repercussion. What would you want them to know? In this book inspired by Emma Koenig's wildly popular website, a diverse collective of women do just that.

Emma Koenig was inspired to answer this question after a truly frustrating sexual experience with a partner. As she says, "THE SIMPLEST VERSION OF THIS STORY DEVOID OF ALL IDENTIFYING DETAILS: He thought I had an orgasm. I hadn't." She knew she couldn't be the only woman to have been mystified by an experience such as this, and so her Tumblr, How to Make Me Come, was born as a safe space for women to talk honestly and openly. The website touched a major chord. It received tons of press and garnered more than a million page views in a month. And now, a broad range of the best of these anonymous essays have been collected into MOAN.

The ways through which women achieve sexual pleasure are often ignored, devalued, or misunderstood. MOAN tackles the ideas surrounding the sometimes elusive orgasm head on. Here is a look into the spectrum of desire. Of frustration. Of experiences that have left an impact. From the hilarious to the tragic, from the intellectual to the erotic, these essays will leave you feeling inspired and excited to embark on your own journey of sexual exploration and empower women to do what most of the time is hardest for us: asking for what we want and don't in the bedroom and beyond.

Full cast of narrators: Emma Koenig, Chloe Cannon, Melanie Cronin, Heidi Eklund, Grace Angela Henry, Zoe Hunter, Anna Morrow, Molly Parker Myers, Jennifer Coolidge, and Annie Sullivan.

We need to listen to each other...

This is a "must" for every human to understand the complexity of our sexual relationships. With ourselves and others.

I could relate to some stories, but felt for all.

Highly recommended!

A nightmare sexual dysfunction and lonely people

This book is terrible. Nothing enlightening or insightful. A collection of bitter, lonely tales of how various women have coped with sexual isolation and poor communication. Very depressing. Not sexy as advertised.

Entertaining but not as good

It wasnt until more than half of it that I started getting tired i wanted it to be finished. I did manage to finish it all but i think that there were many essays that are the same and that could have been omitted. It talked about how many women reach orgasm, keeping in mind that every women is different (i did like that approach). I would highly recommend it to men and women that are not so sure on how to speak about it to their parents.

From Some Guy

Thank you to every woman that took part. It was a painful pill to swallow until half way through and that's when things started to click. What can I say the truth hurts and I will be listening again from the start. I must say I was looking for something different when I started listening and I found something I needed maybe not the something I was looking for but this might be better. Thanks for your gift.
