The Impact

Tristan hit rock bottom, and no one felt the impact harder than Danika. She was forced to see, in the most brutal of ways, that love does not conquer all. Bruised, bloody, and broken, she had to walk away.

The Aftermath

Picking up the pieces of your life after a tragedy is a daunting prospect, and that's considering you still own all of the pieces. But what if you don't? What if someone else owns those pieces, and those pieces are a part of your soul? You dig deep and work with what you've got. That's what Danika told herself and believed, every single day, for years. Tristan and Danika's love had failed every test that life had thrown at them. She couldn't forget that, not for one second. And if those tests had been overly harsh, well, she wasn't one to wallow in self-pity. The failure was the thing she had to focus on. The failure was the lesson. She had no intention of working so hard to make it out of hell without learning that lesson well.

The Reunion

Over six years after the night that changed everything, Danika finds herself forced to spend the weekend constantly in Tristan's company, as they attend the wedding of two of their dearest friends. It's been long enough that she feels they can be friendly again without it destroying her peace of mind, but just a small amount of time in his presence has her remembering something she had forced herself to forget: There'd been a reason she'd gone through hell with this man, for this man, some true good to precede the bad. She shocks herself by quickly giving in to a hunger that she never imagined could still consume her. Even the best intentioned denial has a breaking point.

This book is intended for readers 18 and up.

Best series ever

I am so hooked on this series! The last book had me never wanting me to hit pause! I recommend reading up in the air series first! But this series stomps James and Bianca! Danika is strong and amazing! Yes a little hott and crazy but that is what is so amazing! This will be a reread!

A great ending to the trilogy!

I loved this trilogy! The two main characters are very engaging from the very first chapter in the first book. You feel for them, want them to be together and experience every high and low of their intense and complex relationship.
I laughed and cried as I listened to each book.
I fell in love with both, Tristen and Dannika... I wasn't sure how the story would end, and I think the author did both of these characters justice in how she closed the story.
I think it was narrated very well. I want to listen to more books narrated by Chris and Sarah! They both read so well that I actually want them to be a couple!
I have nothing but good things to say about this trilogy and I think it's worth keeping to listen to again. Great story!

Gosh!!! How I loved this series!!!

It was everything I expected and more. From the start, I was hooked. I'm so happy that R.K. Lilley decided to indulge us and tell us the lovely, tragic, fantastic story of Tristan and Danika. Ever since I read Grounded I wanted to know more and more about them. I just couldn't help it. I wanted to fix them, I wanted to know them. I highly recommend this series, even if you haven't read the Up in the Air series. You will love it. Although you should also read the Up in the Air series... Just sayn'

Personal preference

Good series. Great narration.
Anyone else want to smack the sister, Dahlia??
Family like that, who needs enemies??
I understand dramas needs "drama" but I personally don't like romance stories with so many years lost. That's my only criticism.

So sad this is the end

What an emotional roller coaster this series has been! All the tears for these two beautiful, hurt people. I never cried so much for fictional characters with all the crap they went through! 😭😭😭 So happy they were able to get their happily ever after though!

Amazing Conclusion!!!

The conclusion!! I had been waiting to get to this point and I'm so pleased with how it turned out!!
If you've read the Up in the Air series by R.K. Lilley, then you MUST read Tristan and Danika's story!!!
I DEVOURED this series. D-E-V-O-U-R-E-D!!!!
It's gritty and raw, reckless and impulsive, passionate and powerful, and so emotionally consuming, you won't be able to put it down!

It will build you up with its seductive innocence and set your stomach butterflies in flight, only to tear you down, rip you apart and leave you picking up the pieces from the aftermath of a broken heart.

BUT... it's so painstakingly beautiful, you'll take the beating, feed the monster and come back swinging in the end!

I fell in love with Tristan and Danika and the tragic events that set their lives into a battle of Bad Things, Rock Bottom, and the Lovely Triggers that made them perfect!!
(Like how I did that) 😉

Highly Recommend if you're looking for a story that will set all your emotions on fire!!!

*you don't need to read the Up In the Air series first to read this series. This is a spin off but you're introduced to Tristan and Danika and left questioning their story.*

I listened to this on audio!! Totally Recommend. The emotions in the narration is so on point!!
Sarah Naughton has a beautiful voice and is so pleasant to listen to and Chris Ruen, man he was the perfect voice for Tristan! So Sexy!!!

What "Up In The Air" Wants to Be When it Grows Up

I wrote a rather scathing review of the Cavendish/Bianca story, which precedes this gem of a trilogy.

Tristan and Danika's story, though, is the polar opposite. The plot is layered in realism, and angst, and beauty, and humor. And SO so much depth. You'll find yourself alternating between loving and hating the lead characters. This is what good writing does. It drags you into its labyrinth and dares you to find your way back out.

Sorry, though...I had to remove a star for the writer's apparent obsession with chignons. Listen. It's just a hair bun. JUST SAY "HAIR BUN"! Omg. I'm sorry. I just can't.

Where I rolled my eyes at the jankily-drawn "50 shades of James" and the "oh, great ...yet another blonde haired blue eyed big boobed virgin supermodel" James/Bianca story, I found myself absolutely in love with the realistically -flawed Tristan, and the smaller framed, mixed w/minority heritage Danika.

In fact, I wanna punch myself for losing my credits on the Up In the Air crapola, but I find myself returning to this story over and over. In fact, I'm listening to Lovely Trigger for the fourth time. It's definitely my favorite in the series. A culmination of the two lovers' personal struggles, and finally, the realization that they complete each other in an everlasting way.

If you're deciding between "Up In the Air" and the Tristan/Danika stories, I vote for T/D. Hands down. Worth it.
