Major Geoffrey Chaloner has returned, relatively unscathed, from the Napoleonic War, and England is at peace for the first time in years. Unable to set up his own establishment, he is forced to live with his irascible father who has very clear views on just about everything - including exactly whom Geoffrey will marry and why. The trouble is that Geoffrey isn’t particularly keen on the idea, and even less so when he meets Adam Heyward, the enigmatic cousin of the lady his father has picked out for him….
As Geoffrey says himself: “I have never been taught what I should do if I fell in love with someone of a sex that was not, as I expected it would be, opposite to my own.”

It's VERY well written. It could have been fleshed out a bit more. Maybe a few more encounters before the final scene. Who knows but VERY enjoyable.
It wasn't a huge shocker but I kinda wished for all unanswered questions getting tied up. But I liked the ending a lot.
Jim Bowie has gotten BETTER. MUCH better at narration. To be honest, the first book I heard from him, he was stiff. I couldn't tell who the characters were, but I still liked his style. I wouldn't hesitate to buy an audio book with his name on it. But now, with this vast improvement, I will definitely buy titles with him. The reading was very moving. I'm pleased to see the vast improvement.
I really like Adam. I think this character is rather complex and could be more interesting if fleshed out.
This was an enjoyable read and although I did choose it because it was short, rest assured, it packed a punch. I don't know why the reviews were so low. The old fashioned way of talking was surprising at first but it fits very well. I really want to see more from this author! I am a fan!!!
I really enjoy the world of books! Narration just add layers to that world... don't u think? :)
This was so boring. I couldn't even get past chapter 1. I don't see how this got so many good reviews here. I was really really bored. This is not a buy, credit or sale. I will try again...but for now this is a big no...
