Publisher's summary

Fight. F--k. Love. Those are the three things Richard and Tim are good at, although not necessarily in that order. As far as Tim's concerned, every moment together has been one they've had to fight for. The make-up sex is out of this world, but can that really be enough to sustain a relationship? Will this six-year relationship end on a bang or a whimper - or both?

This is an explicit erotic short story. It contains graphic language and sexual themes. It is meant only for adults who are interested in this type of material for listening in jurisdictions where its sale and enjoyment does not violate any local laws.

Thank God

Both characters have personality flaws, but they're not made out to be the straw that broke the camel's back. They humanize. And ancient bronzes and various and sundry pagan deities are not required to raise the ... interest... of the reader. Just hotly imperfect sex between hotly imperfect people.

And the vocal register and control of the narrator, Matt Banner, don't hurt at all (except in the achy way that they're supposed to). He convincingly voices versatility, both of sexual positioning and of vocal range. The result is two different and distinct character voices, both of which are wracked with yearning, angst, satisfaction, and contentment, in their appropriate turns.

It’s ok...

It’s amazing how in some short stories, you still feel like you know the characters so well. I’ve read short (including erotic) stories where I feel like I really know 2 (or more) people as well as I know any of my friends. In just a page or two.

This... not so much. But I think what really set me off was I had to check if there was an actual narrator reading it - it sounded robotic and I wondered if it was just a bot reading words. I was actually shocked to see it was an actual person reading it. It sounded so disengaged.

Maybe the story is better than I thought - the joy and pain of audiobooks is the narrator can make a bad story good, or a good story bad. Maybe it’s a bad story with bad narration. I’m honestly not sure.
