This is what happened: I met him at the candy store. He turned and smiled at me and I was surprised enough to smile back. This was not a children's candy store, mind you, this was the kind of place you went to buy expensive imported chocolate truffles for your boss' wife because you felt guilty for having sex with him when you were both at a conference in Milwaukee.

Hypothetically speaking, of course. I've been hit on plenty of times, mostly by men with little finesse who thought what was between their legs made up for what they lacked between their ears. Sometimes I went home with them anyway, just because it felt good to want and be wanted, even if it was mostly fake. The problem with wanting is that it's like pouring water into a vase full of stones. It fills you up before you know it, leaving no room for anything else.

I don't apologize for who I am or what I've done in or out of bed. I have my job, my house, and my life, and for a long time I haven't wanted anything else. Until Dan. Until now.

    "Why the raspy voice?"

I have not finished the book yet and am not sure I will be able to due to the narrator's way of distinguishing the man's voice. Instead of just lowering her voice, she uses an irritating raspy voice. It's extremely annoying and hard to take seriously. It sounds so ridiculous that I want to laugh or throw my mp3 player out the window. Very hard to get into the book.

    "No Stars really"

The narrator is horrible. The main male character sounds as though he has a sore throat and the main female character sounds like she's sixteen. Very disturbing when you have soooo much sex going on. The only thing worse than the narrator is the story itself. The author creates no reason for the listener to care about these characters. Even the descriptions of their sexual encounters leaves you saying, "So what!"

    "Not for Me!"

ALthough I enjoyed Tempted by the same author, I just could not get into this book. If you like fluffy, I don't think you would enjoy this too much. But the absolutely worse part was the narrator. Her voice got under my skin and I couldn't enjoy it even if I wanted too!

Mom of 3 wild and crazy boys, I've become obsessed with books again after being sucked into a little vampire/lovestory series you may have heard of, and now I listen to most books (but read at night) so that I can be somewhat productive during the day and not leave my family and home to collapse around me while my nose is stuck in a book ; )

    "Great story,TERRIBLE narrator"
What didn’t you like about Elenna Stauffer’s performance?

I felt like I was listening to Casey Kasem's daughter retell someone's "heartbreaking or heartwarming" story in between the top 40 hits of the week, For the ENTIRE Book. This is an erotic romance- the narrator should NOT sound the same when describing what is happening to her "nether regions" and HOW it feels as she sounds when talking aout painting her den and eating pizza with the kid next door. Her voice (speed, inflection, tone, etc) should NOT sound the exact same throughout. She sounded so detached at moments when she WASN'T supposed to be detached. I wished I had the book to read along with, because it was very hard to get past the narration to be able to just focus on the story.

I think Elenna Stauffer is probably a very good narrator, but just NOT for this genre.

"MALE CHARACTERS’ VOICES MADE ME FEEL DIRTY"

This was the WRONG NARRATOR to choose for an erotic novel. Her male characters sounded like pre-teen boys going through puberty! Given this book’s subject matter, the narration made me so uncomfortable I had to stop listening after 30 minutes. I bought "Broken" (the next book in this series) instead, and am enjoying it much, much more. Do yourself a favor if you like erotica (like I do!) and want to be turned on by it (like I do!) and skip this audiobook. Like I said, "Broken" is better. Sylvia Day’s “Bared to You” is also good.

    "Very Good"

This is the first time listening to a book like this. The book had a good plot and was well written, however I will have to agree with the other comments about Dan's voice from the narrator. I almost pressed stop, she made him sound like a some guy you picked up in a ally trying to sell you some stolen jewelry. All together I enjoyed the book but will not purchase again if the narrator is the same person.

    "Wondeful"

This is one of the best erotic listens I have. I don't really care for the readers "man" voice but I got use to it. Very erotic and a story that keeps you interested through the whole book. You will laugh, cry, and enjoy. A must.

    "Lives up to it's title"

I could have gone either way on this book, but in the end it won me over. If you are squeamish about explicit sex, this isn't the story for you. However, there was something about the lead female character that appealed to me despite the serious issues she struggled with. The lead male character was particularly yummy; not only was he sexy, but he showed amazing insight in sifting through Elle's hang-ups and went to great lengths to to fulfill her needs.

This was my first Megan Hart novel, and though I have since read others, I think it is her best.
