The Wicked Lovers Series ramps up!

After reading the first book in this series, I hesitated at Book 2....I really liked Deke's character in Book 1, however, I didn't have any credits available and the first book seemed to continually reiterate the female characters' internal angst..."should I/shouldn't I? Am I depraved/is this normal?" I found that distracting and not very relevant as the story progressed.

Back to Book 2:

As I mentioned earlier, I liked Deke's character and, like Kimber, I was admittedly curious....so I took the plunge, bought the book and began to listen.

The premise of the story, while pretty unbelievable, only serves to nudge the story into motion.The characters take over from there and their interactions develop into steamy sex scenes, changed relationships and personal growth. In this book of the series, Deke wrestles with a personal issue and addresses it with the help of his cousin, Luc, and Kimber. When I reached the end of the book I felt like I had gone through a journey with the
characters as they learned about themselves, made decisions and faced baggage and perceptions from their past. I felt the warmth of the romance and a catharsis.

I was pleasantly surprised with this book; if you listened to the first book and are ambivalent, I would suggest giving this one a try. However, if the first book made you blush while listening in public, you should be aware that the sex scenes in this book focus on Male/Female/Male menage situations.

Hot scenes boring story

This book had hot scenes but the story to it was boring to me, had a few interesting moments but that lasted a couple minutes.

Hot!!!

I enjoyed this story. It was definitely very hot but I also cared about the characters.
The only thing I didn’t care for was the voice used for the main female character. She sounded like a little girl...

Super Hot!!

Really great sex and a good story too. Better than the first in the series, though that was pretty good too.

Erotic but a bit boring.

Ok I know everyone loves Shayla Black and don't get me wrong she is good. This is the second book in the series and I keep waiting for the hook to get me to love these books. If you want erotic sex scenes, then they are definitely a hit. I just don't fall in love with the characters. I think the narrator was lacking. I know that Kimber was to sound young but her voice just grated on me. I kept hoping that she would use the voice that she narrated the story with. How do you expect to really buy a ménage with someone who sounds about 15. Some of the storyline did not make sense and the timeline was off. If you are just looking for an easy listen that does not require you to think too much, or really buy into the story then this is a good choice. It took me several days to listen to and I was on a road trip and still did not pick it. As I said, it is not a bad book it just lacks a complicated plot and characters that you just fall in love with and cannot get enough. I am not sure if I will get the next book although Luke's story could be interesting. I think that is it with these books. There is just enough of a tease to keep you coming back for more but then when you do it is a bit of a letdown. So in the end I am on the fence about this book and I don’t know if it was worth my credit or not. I guess I am a tough critic.

No, it took me a while to get use to the narration.

What other book might you compare Decadent to and why?

I think it reminds me a little of Megan Hart's Tempted only this book seems....... lighter somehow.

Maybe now that I've gotten used to her voice.

For me the start was not believable (Kimber's motive for looking up Deke) but I suppose thats what books are for but to escape reality and with the numerous hot scenes I did.
This was my first Shayla Black book mostly because I thought she only wrote paranormal books, guess I'll have to look out for more of her novels on audible.

I thought it was good. Kimber Edgington desperately needs a plan to convince Jesse McCall, who’s been her secret crush since they spent a summer together as teenagers, that they are meant for each other. Kimber turns to bodyguard Deke Trenton for sex ed. she knows all about his ménage à trois and she knows that Jesse also likes them. Deke has always had a thing for Kimber he somehow feels that he is know good for her and he refuses to take her virginity, because of a incident in his past. With the help of his sexy as hell cousin Chef Luc they set out to teach Kimber a thing or two to land Jesse. Kimber learns that Jesse is not the one for her and that Deke is who she really wants if she can keep him from pushing her away. Someone is stalking Kimber and that pushes all of Deke's protective buttons and he can’t bear to imagine the innocent beauty in someone else’s arms. This review comes after a re read looking back on this book it was too me not as good as the first, one but it was better one book in this series that I thought should have been better. It was well written and it had plenty of action. I love reading Ms. Black's work. This was a pretty good read.

Typical Shayla Black, in that way that sunsets are typical! Wonderful book, HOT book….what more can a girl say?

Hot, mostly

Plenty of good erotic sex, paired with the constant "I'm not good enough...." caused me to vacillate equally between "love it" and "hate it." I get it, people have hang ups. But it gets boring to constantly hear the inner hate speech.

hot as ever...could not put down..... loved the hole book...had me hooked from the first 3 words....id listen to it all over again.....wish it was shorter tho 😁
