Publisher's summary

How can a virgin seeking happily ever after with a hot pop star who has a penchant for threesomes win her fantasy man? Kimber Edgington desperately needs a plan to convince Jesse McCall, who's been her friend and secret crush since they spent a summer together as teenagers, that they are meant for each other. But all the tabloid stories about his sexual escapades make her feel oh so inadequate.

Determined to prove she's woman enough for Jesse, Kimber turns to bodyguard Deke Trenton for sexual education. Bold and brash, Deke warns Kimber that playing with him is playing with fire. But he can't bear to imagine the innocent beauty in someone else's arms. So Deke and his super sexy cousin, Luc, take Kimber under their wings and dangerously close to the edge of ecstasy. Though she's saved herself for Jesse, Kimber soon learns he's not the man adept at stroking her aching, endless need. That's Deke, and he can't resist when Kimber begs for more-and more.

To Menage or Not

This is Book 2 in Shayla Black's Wicked Series and as with all Shayla Black books it's erotica all the way. The story is a bit far fetched "virgin wants to lean how to have a menage to please her pop-star friend"...meanwhile staying a virgin (not a spoiler since that happens in the first chapter).

There are a few twists and I must admit I wondered who she would end up with one or both of them...not so obvious there.

The usual...someone is after the girl part of the story ...was not really well developed and the secrets they held were built up so much that I couldn't help being disappointed when I was told what they were.

All that said...the story was good, the sex was great and would listen to it again (not something I say about all the books I hear).

I would recommend starting with Book 1 and listening your way through the series in order.

Erotica for the immature

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

If you are into fantasy and can take a plot that departs from reality and cruises into ridiculous, then this is the book for you. The main character came off as a petulant teenager. This was just plain disturbing given her desire to learn about ménage.

What could Shayla Black have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

The plot was just plain dumb. It is hard to care about characters or respond to what they are doing if all them are acting like stupid people. Kimber, the main character sets out to learn about ménage while keeping her virginity for her rock star boyfriend. Too unrealistic!

Would you be willing to try another one of Lexi Maynard’s performances?

I'm not sure. The voice used for the main character, Kimber, made her sound like a child which was just gross when she was talking about sex. The character might also have been a chipmunk which was equally gross. The least gross alternative was that the main character was a little person. That last alternative would have been fine, but probably not what she was aiming for.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

This book bored and disgusted me. It was way too implausible and the sex was so-so.

Any additional comments?

I have no idea why this book got so many positive reviews.

bad narration, bad plot, just bad.

I know I'm bucking the consensus with my rating, but I just couldn't buy into this one. The narrator reads the character of Kimber as if she's a precocious 14 year old trying to lose her virginity in a menage with two grown men. Their constant repetition of "baby girl," "little girl" and kitten while encouraging her to give them blow jobs and anal sex just wasn't sexy to me. It was skeezy.

I enjoyed the first book in the series -- it was hot with a plot. It helped that the heroine was an adult, and sounded like one. When the dirty talk started it felt appropriate -- not like child abuse. (Yes, I know Kimber was described as a 23 year old -- too bad she didn't sound like one.) Aside from the voice issue though, this really wasn't a very good book. The guys came across as desperate predators looking to fulfill their fantasies at the expense of a naive young girl.

I appreciate that not everyone will agree with me, but I felt I had to review this especially for for those of you with young daughters -- you might want to take a pause with this particular book. It may not sound all that sexy to you, either.

SOOOOOO HOT!!!!!!!!

Where does Decadent rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

At the TOP!!!! This Wicked Lovers Series is totally HOT. This book is mmmmm mmmmmm good.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love them all, no way not too!!

Have you listened to any of Lexi Maynard’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

She is awesome as always.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, but that would be giving a very good part away and I would not want to do that.

Any additional comments?

I would just advise to get all three books in the series and listen to them!!!!!

Severely lacking and obviously rushed

What would have made Decadent better?

Wicked ties wasn't the best novel I'd ever read but it was definitely better than this one. I'm thinking Shayla was in a rush to release this one or something because it's like they were written by two different people. The storyline was painful...truly. Kimber's voice made my skin crawl. The only reason this book is getting two stars is because of the sex scenes, even though most of them were interrupted with ridiculous drama.

What was most disappointing about Shayla Black’s story?

The lack of a story.

What didn’t you like about Lexi Maynard’s performance?

I'm not a huge Lexi fan. She can only manage a few different voices and like I noted earlier, Kimber's really brought the book down.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Indifference.

Any additional comments?

I wouldn't waste my money on this one ladies. Wicked Ties had it's moments...this book does not in my opinion. Maybe the third in this series is better but I'll never know.

Extremely hot

This book was smoldering. There wasn't a ton of 'romance' to it. The main male character was a bit too tortured for me. But the sex was... woah. I liked the previous book from this series too and I wish that the rest were available here. I'd buy them all.

Super Hot!!

Really great sex and a good story too. Better than the first in the series, though that was pretty good too.

Terrible Narrator!! Could Not Listen to it!!

The narrator has so much impact on the books I listen to and this one was very monotone and extremely boring to listen to. Authors please take note*****A Narrator can make or Break a Good Story***!! I am sure this was a very good book but I could not get through even half of the first chapter.

Erotic but a bit boring.

Ok I know everyone loves Shayla Black and don't get me wrong she is good. This is the second book in the series and I keep waiting for the hook to get me to love these books. If you want erotic sex scenes, then they are definitely a hit. I just don't fall in love with the characters. I think the narrator was lacking. I know that Kimber was to sound young but her voice just grated on me. I kept hoping that she would use the voice that she narrated the story with. How do you expect to really buy a ménage with someone who sounds about 15. Some of the storyline did not make sense and the timeline was off. If you are just looking for an easy listen that does not require you to think too much, or really buy into the story then this is a good choice. It took me several days to listen to and I was on a road trip and still did not pick it. As I said, it is not a bad book it just lacks a complicated plot and characters that you just fall in love with and cannot get enough. I am not sure if I will get the next book although Luke's story could be interesting. I think that is it with these books. There is just enough of a tease to keep you coming back for more but then when you do it is a bit of a letdown. So in the end I am on the fence about this book and I don’t know if it was worth my credit or not. I guess I am a tough critic.

"The road to Ho is paved with good intentions"

Along the 50 shades line, a good read, enjoyable and certainly hot. I enjoyed book one of the series much more, but this was a good follow up with characters introduced in the first novel.
