Publisher's summary

All Noelle Cunningham has ever wanted is a life beyond - beyond the walls of Eden, where only the righteous are allowed to remain, and beyond her stiflingly restrictive existence as a councilman's daughter. But only ruins lie outside the City, remnants of a society destroyed by solar storms decades earlier.

The sectors surrounding Eden house the corrupt, the criminal-men like Jasper McCray, bootlegger and cage fighter. Jas clawed his way up from nothing to stand at the right hand of Sector Four's ruthless leader, and he'll defend the O'Kane gang with his life. But no fight ever prepared him for the exiled City girl who falls at his feet.

Her innocence is undeniable, but so is their intense sexual attraction, and soon they're crossing every boundary Noelle barely knew she had. But if she wants to belong to Jas, first she'll have to open herself to the gang, and to a world where passion is power, and freedom is found in submission.

Ok... Yup!! My kinda of Erotica!!!

This is the kind of erotica I like. Great smexing with great story line throw in. I loved it. Yes this is erotica not romantic novel... Let me say this again... Erotica not romantic novel; however, that being said... this is sooo good that you forget that it's erotica because the story is great. It is set in a post apocalyptic time when the world is separated into the clean techno Eden and ruff and gruff gang style like sectors. The daughter of one of the Eden leaders get thrown out into the sectors for liking smex and ends up in one the toughest sector gangs. Like I said, yes there is great smex scene and plenty of them however, there is just enough and not enough to make sure there is a great story. I loved it.

Narration was great too. Malone did a great job.

A good credit for those romantic novel lovers and a good buy for those erotica lovers.

Post-Apocolyptic Sexcapades

This is not bad, the sex scenes are hot, and there are a lot of them, it tasted a little like a very...very naughty Hunger Games. It did not really grab me and take hold like some stories do, but all in all it was ok. If you are looking for a naughty listen, you coulddo mch worse.

If you are looking for something very different, dystopian & erotica mixed into one, this would be the book for you! It reminded me of Hunger Games or Divergent with the sectors and the different groups but with a very adult story line. Super hot with an interesting plot that left me wanting to continue on to book 2. The characters are all very different and pretty good at hiding their real thoughts.

The narration was good too!

I want more of this series on audio

I really enjoyed this book, both to read and listen. I just love Jasper. He is just such a great guy. He is the tough guy who is one of the enforcers for the O'Kanes. Dallas O'Kane is the leader of the O'Kanes and runs Sector Four. I love the idea of the full forearm tattoos of all the gang members. Noelle is very sweet. I love the dynamic between her and Jasper. She is also great with Lex. Lex is a great character. She is very tough and independent.

The sex is hot, the characters are amazing. I really love this world. I read this in less than 24 hours. It is quite a page turner, I highly recommend it.

Not the Usual

The world in which this story is set consists of Eden, a walled, government-run, community of "haves" who live in a very controlled and stepford-like community of rules that are very stifling and oppressive, particularly regarding behavior, and a more chaotic world outside the walls where various zones are controlled by gangs, and there is more of an, "If it feels good, do it" mentality. Violence, sex and feelings in general are discouraged in Eden, so when our heroine gets caught drinking and having sex, she is banished to the other side of the wall. She promptly gets roofied and stumbles into our hero who takes her to one of the women in his gang to keep her form ending up raped or worse.

It started out a little rough, in that I think there should have been a little more build up to how Noelle was feeling about her life in Eden before she was thrust into the depths of life in the O'Kane gang, but it smoothed out, and I found myself really liking the characters a lot more as the story went on and more was learned about them. She and Jasper had an instant connection because he saved her, and they built on that and had a few trials to overcome, but they were realistic, and I didn't find myself wanting to slap either of them too much.

The narrator was excellent. Her female voices and male voices were very good and varied enough to distinguish Lex from Noelle and Dallas from Jas. She performed the book rather than just narrated it, and I always appreciate that when it's done well. Overall, this was credit-worthy, although with Whispersync and Kindle, it's a bargain for cash.

Orgies and lesbianism and female subjugation Oh My

Well written and interesting but not my thing. Because of the bisexual content I could not finish the story. =/

I support civil rights and liberties but I am not interested in reading about it in my romance.

Apocalypse kink with a dash of story

I came to this author duo through Deal with the Devil, set in the same world as this series. That book was first a dystopian adventure, then a romance, and last a provider of two traditional naughty scenes.
Thus, despite the cover art and summary, I wasn’t expecting the full throttle kink of this series.

This series is first and foremost about apocalypse kink within a bootlegging gang in Sector Four. A distant second is the dystopian romance story. There’s the smallest amount of setting, backstory, and plot to get to the naughty. Three books in and I still have only a vague idea about the different sectors. It’s not until book 3 we get an off-hand statement about the “flare” that caused the apocalypse (yep, it’s The Walking Dead approach: no explanations necessary). When the danger/ conflict element comes, it’s abrupt and unearned.

The dystopian, urban fantasy lover in me was disappointed.
The romance, popcorn p😜rn lover in me found these to be delicious.

But, whoo! There’s a lot of kink, both in quantity (felt like a dozen scenes) and variety (voyeurism, consensual domination, bondage, spanking, swapping, FF, FFM, MFM, and MFMF)
… and that was just in this first book.

The titles are very on-the-nose. This one (Beyond Shame) sees Noelle, a sheltered daddy’s girl, move beyond the body/naughty shaming of her prudish clan in Eden by embracing the uber-open, kink loving Sector Four and finding a HEA with second in command Jasper. Book 2 (Beyond Control) is all about the need of both the H and h (Dallas/Lexi) to be in control. Book 3 (Beyond Pain) has Brendan and Six using pain as a coping mechanism to get beyond his past (and therefore adds things like flogging to the kink list). While I haven’t heard the whole series, it appears all the kink is consensual- and I appreciate that.

I felt like each book in the series ran long for the lack of story (the novellas in the series worked best for me), but I also found the kink hawt, even if it was not my kink. It’s kind of weird to have erotica from one series in the same world as a series written as legit dystopian adventure. It’s also a little weird that, despite the kink-variety, there’s no race variety or MM coupling (although MMFF coupling and maybe forecasting a MM couple in a future book?) Perhaps that’s because this was the author duo’s first series? I now see there’s another spin-off series (Gideon’s Riders) with race variety…and still set in this world.

The dystopian rise of Sector Four story arc finally starts to get going in book 3, where the story-to-smut ratio gives a little more actual story to go with the smutty. Perhaps because there was some plot beyond the smut, I liked book 3 best of the first three. Also, Six was the first gal with skills other than being feisty or sexy. I ended up liking this series more than I expected and will continue on as later books go on sale.

Confused by the book and my feelings for it

so, I dont even know quite where to begin with this book. I guess I'll start out with Lucy Malone, she is a great narrator and I loved her performance. So, like 75% of the novel I would say is group sex, or Jasper relentlessly teasing Noelle. The amount of group sex made it very hard to connect with the characters, I often found myself questioning if it was really a book about Noelle and Lex falling in love. Everytime i thought i finally understood Jaspers reluctance to make their relationship more he does something or more likely doesnt do something that made me confused all over again. The more I think as I'm typing the more I realize how much I dislike his character. For a supposedly dominant man he had no problem letting Lex and the leader deal with all problems concerning noelle when things got intense. I was expecting more action out of a futuristic story like this but was also disappointed on that front. I could go on but I that would be really jumping into spoiler territory, all in all I'm confused because I strongly disliked the Male character or rather was disappointed in him and the over all delivery of the plot. On the other hand I couldn't stop listening to it, and found myself slightly fascinated by the dynamics of the characters, and their weird rules and practices on sex. anyways, I've ranted long enough. I'll reserve my complete judgement till I read the next in series! For now, 3 stars!

Beyond Shame

For a first book in a series I wanted more explanation, like why is there an Eden and sectors what is the purpose of separating them?
If this is a dystopian society I guess I just wanted more explaining.

I like the characters Noelle and Jasper kind of match each other and I liked that Lex and Noelle fit too. Then there is Dallas and Lex and Dallas and Jasper they all kind of fit it works. I just don’t understand why Lex and Dallas fight it so much.

Noelle is very innocent but so willing to learn, I get why now the reasons Jasper had for waiting, but while I was listing I wanted him to …. or get off the pot kind of thing.

I am looking forward to the next book.

Not a big fan of that narrator but she didn’t ruin the experience for me.
